cubs suck

Cubs are a complete disaster. they abused woods arm havend had a decent catcher in years. the bullpin blows and the manager couldnt manage a little leauge team. all he says is we are a better team then this and things will turn around for us and this was a dissapointing loss. every loss isdisapointing. the sox have the 3rd best record in baseball and the dont get the attention and soldout games because for the last 25years they have played games like the cubs are playing now. the difference now is that our GM is making great moves and the cubs GM just drafted a top 10 or 15 wide reciver to pitch. what a moron. and hopefully a chunk of that old decrpit ball field will fall on some fans and know some sense into them. take a hint. buils new field. its is falling apart along with ur disalusioned franchise..

Go SOX

I do realize the Cubs are not doing well right now or have done well in what seems like forever, but at least if your going to make a post bashing another team make it readable and use the spell check feature that IrishEnvy has provided us with.

Injury riddled team right now, especially the pitching. Have had to rob Peter to pay Paul for starters out of the bullpen. If they can get healthy, they're going to win the AL West.

Ownership? Not really. But you're right about the fans. If they don't come, you can't spend. New park in the works, right? Management? Billy Beane. Say no more. The best in the biz. Someone from the Cubs should read Moneyball. They need to hire a guy like Beane or Theo Epstein. Farm System? Not right now. Reloading because most of it is in the Majors now.

Best current farm system goes to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Their farm system was built by former Sox Assistant GM Danny Evans and Moneyball/Billy Beane soldier Paul DePodesta. The Dodgers and D Backs will have some real battle with the Diamondbacks (also stacked) for years to come in the NL West. The D Backs GM is Josh Byrnes, who was one of Theo Epstein's guys in Boston.

We've had the last 2 rookies of the year in Crosby and Street. And several other prior to that came very close. The A's always have a good ball club, and the entire team (except for Frank Thomas and Milton Bradley) came up with the A's farm system. This was teh first year in some time that we picked up free agents (in their twilight though) But everytime somebody leaves, they get replaced by somebody in the farm. Out goes Mulder and Hudson, in came Haren and Harden. Out goes Isringhausen and Koch, in comes Street. We lose somebody big every year, this year it will be Zito.

And I don't think the city of Oakland will pay for a new park. The Raiders want the same, so now there is talk of the Raiders going to Fremont, about 40 miles south of Oakland, and the A's going to San Jose, about 60 miles south of Oakland. It just won't sound right.

If "your" going to bash people for their spelling, you should make sure that you understand the difference between "your" and "you're".

You're correct Punishment. For Zito, where do you think he'll end up? It will have to be someone with a good minor league system, so scratch the Yankees. I think Billy will try to move him to the Mets, Red Sox or Braves. Dodgers maybe? What have you heard?

Too bad. The A's need a new park pretty badly. Under Bud Selig, half of MLB has gotten a new park while he's been in charge. And a couple of more are on the way. Hopefully Oakland can work something out.

This maybe a stupid question but why do these teams need new ball parks all the time....to me its a giant waste of money, ie. the Colts new stadium. What was wrong with the RCA Dome?

Rumor is one of two things will happen. (1) If the A's are doing well by the trading deadline and appear to have a shot at the world series, they will hold on to Zito and lose him in free agency, or (2) if the A's appear to have little change, they will trade him. And you're right, it will be to somebody with good minor leaguers because the A's can't pay for somebody of Zito's worth.

The problem with the stadium is that the city does not have money to pay for a stadium, much less 2 stadiums for the A's and Raiders. Not enough revenue out here I guess. San Jose and Fremont have sprung up as cities that are willing to build a new stadium. I'm curious to see what happens.

They don't need, but want. The problem is, is that it is the taxpayers that have to pay for the stadium, and not the team owners. That is why you have people like Al Davis who are threatening to move the team away unless they get a new stadium. The team should own the stadium. Although I guess that presents a whole lot of other problems for other events.

I like what Cleveland did though when the retained the Browns name, even though the team moved. I hope the Oakland can do the same if the Raiders leave.

But yea, I am getting tired of teams demanding new stadiums every 10 years.

To me its stupid and a waste of money.....I was in huge favor of the Colts just leaving Indiana....if your loyalties to a place are based upon the tax payers paying millions of dollars so you can have a new stadium every 10-15 years then get out.....hence why I hate professional sports.

The common myth in MLB is that a new park will generate more fans and revenue. Not really the case when all of the numbers are added up and the results come in.

PNC in Pittsburgh...the best ballpark in all of baseball. Too bad the team that plays there is horrendous. And the Pirates aren't too far away from the Cubs in the loss column.

:) Always taking jabs at the Cubs. Too funny.:)

I'm really not though. Its true. Look at the standings.

My dad used to work for the Cubs with Ned Colletti back in the Jim Frey days. I think what management has done with this team is utterly disgusting. There is no excuse for them to be so bad. Not with the resources they have.

They should have jumped on Theo Epstein while he was still unemployed.

You might be right on this one. That whole scenario was just really weird. Like two lovers fighting and then making up. Still, they should have moved in.

Anyone know when Punchy McBarrett is finally going to serve his (reduced) suspension?

If I had gone out and punched someone in the face a month ago, I'd already be in jail. Meanwhile, this dope is still playing.

He'll start his suspension just in time for the Detroit series. Not that the Cubs would cause them much worry WITH Barrett. Without him it will just be a tad more humiliating. Unless Jacque Jones carries them the entire series.

I hope Jason Grimsley is the eventual downfall of Bud Selig. I will go out and buy a Grimsley jersey if and when it happens.

I'm still waiting for all 4 players to be punished for their actions....all four should be suspended for the royale rumble they caused.

Pierzynski and Mabry didn't go anything.

Barrett and Anderson will get what's coming to them.

I'd say all four played a key role and instigated something in the fight, so all four should be punished.

All Pierzynski and Mabry did was get punched. There is no way you can tell me that Pierzynski instigated anything. Barrett has had a history of being a tad oversensitive (see Roy Oswalt, Dave Roberts incidents).

Mabry was just standing there and Anderson went to jack him. He missed, of course, because he can't hit anything.

MLB seems to see it this way as only Punchy McBarrett and Anderson are serving suspensions.

In regards to Pierzynski, if someone got up and intentionally bumped into my taunting me after just running me over I would take offense to that....not in that manner but it still provoked a conflict, and in regards to Mabry, he ran into the mix and looked like he was going to start more and Anderson didn't know his intention so he went after him...Anderson was just sticking up for his teamates because Mabry's intention was unknown.

I would too.

Too bad this never happened, though.

Punchy McBarrett did what any man would do after he got jacked up and plowed over. He was pissed off. Who knows...I might have done the same thing. No one wants to have that happen to him. Punchy probably felt embarrassed and boiling blood got the better of him. I've seen other catchers get jacked up and they didn't knock anyone out. Alas, Pierzynski's reputation preceeds him. He is the Anti-Christ of baseball, but let's all celebrate Barry Bonds, right?

Water under the bridge...well, not yet since no one has been suspened yet. Our justice system seems to have filtered into sports as well.

Barrett is a good hitter, but his middle name is passed ball. I think he was just reacting to what happened out of the heat of the moment. Kind of like that 80s song by Asia.

I never meant to be so bad to you
One thing I said that I would never do
One look from you and I would fall from grace
And that would wipe this smile right from my face

Do you remember when we used to dance
And incidence arose from circumstance
One thing lead to another we were young
And we would scream together songs unsung

{chorus}
It was the heat of the moment
Telling me what your heart meant
Heat of the moment shone in your eyes

UPDATE:

Weekend series vs. the Detroit Tigers: Chicago Cubs, 0-3.

Three game score total: 26-9, Detroit.

Total Attendance: 122,080

If that is how 122,000 people want to spend their weekend, watching this dogcrap product get beat down, I actually have to feel sorry for them. They're so moronic it is sad to someone like me. But hey, they're going to sign Jeff Samardzija.

The Florida Marlins have won 8 games in a row. They're 29-37. The Cubs are 26-42 and their payroll is light years away from Florida's. Joe Girardi makes peanuts compared to what Johnny Cakes Baker makes. Doesn't anyone have a problem with this? This team is two games in front of Pittsburgh....TWO GAMES.

Clearly, a culture overhaul is needed like never before for the Cubs. It is truly pathetic how losing has become accepted yet again. Judging by the attendance, no one seems to care just how bad this team really is. They've been taking in 40,000 all year and for what? Ivy? Beer? 26-42?

Oh, by the way: St. Louis is 8-5 without Albert Pujols. They're 42-26, an actual MIRROR IMAGE of the Cubs. Save the Derrick Lee excuses for someone that has no clue about the game of baseball. Jim Hendry built this team with overpaid crap. It would take en Derrick Lee's to save this train wreck. A mighty expensive train wreck, I might add.

Congrats on selling out three more games this weekend. Demand something better and stop going to these games otherwise you'll never win anything.

Was Baker surprised Pierzynski didn’t get a suspension?

“Kind of. Yeah,” Baker said. “Like I said, whenever there is a cause, there is an effect. The effect was Michael.”

First he said it was a clean play and Pierzynski did what he was supposed to do.

Can someone just fire this dope and get him out of Chicago? He's a muttering, bumbling idiot that seems to have an excuse for everything.

Hey Johhny Cakes, excuses are like assholes: everyone has one and they all stink.

MORON.

I doubt he was good enough to play in the NFL for very long. He made the right choice, in my opinion. Baseball is a cash cow and much easier on the body.

He better show up this season or his career is in a cloud of smoke.

Last year was his make or break year and he came through with a strong season and an ERA under 3 and batters only hitting .200 off him.

If he falls off a bit this year, his career will not be up in a cloud of smoke. His strong year last year has guaranteed that. Heck if Kyle Farnsworth can stick in the league for 13 years, I would say Jeff will be in the league for quite some time.
