Now you're just talking crazy talk.

We STILL don't have the widely available testing. That whole dog-n-pony show with the private-industry CEOs was complete bullshit; a typical TV production.

What are you saying? As far as I can tell your posts are as abstract and confusing as the mainstream media is.

Yup....that is why when this first hit our country they advised those on inhibitors to consult with their physicians about stopping or lowering the dosage on the medications until this is over.

Yeah, I was a bit concerned. A colleague said that the data was inconclusive, so to continue on as directed. Crappy thing for me is that my doc actually did change my prescriptions, prior to all of this, so I'm still establishing baseline. My situation is sort of like flying blind into a storm.

I've been muttering this to myself for the past two weeks as you routinely allude to various conspiracy theories. I usually just give up trying to understand what you are trying to warn us about.

Never give up. I'm learning as i speak and I know I'm misinformed.

A few centuries later

I'm not talking now, I'm talking like 50-60 years from now. You just can't have this type of polarization where half the country is completely divided from the other half on EVERYTHING.

It's been since about the 2000 election when this started. That was 20 years ago. Look how bad it already is. We are at each other's throats. A divorce is something that nobody wants but I just don't see it not happening in time unless things change Will they? I hope so.

I also think imperialism actually helped the Roman empire to stay together longer due to sheer force. But would it have stayed together for that anyway if it wasn't 2000 years ago instead of today with the various forms of modern media and communication? Maybe but I doubt it

You guys act like Trump just winged this on his own.

I may not agree with how he handles things but his timeline is more related to what computer models from the NSA/DOD provide after they plug in CDC data.

The CDC is worried about ramifications of the virus spreading in a medical context. The NSA is worried about the ramification on how the virus and the actions taken against the virus affect the general population's behavior.

I love how everyone uses hindsight to tell us how Trump could have handled it better. It wasn't going to matter if he shut things down in February or took the course he actually did. People would have screamed outrage one way or the other. I doubt that Obama, Kennedy, Lincoln, Adams, Roosevelt or any other President could have made the perfect call. It is what it is.

Forwarded a number of times:

Half of us are going to come out of this quarantine as amazing cooks. The other half will come out with a drinking problem.

I used to spin that toilet paper like I was on Wheel of Fortune. Now I turn it like I'm cracking a safe

I need to practice social-distancing from the refrigerator.

Still haven't decided where to go for Easter ----- The Living Room or The Bedroom

PS: every few days try your jeans on just to make sure they fit. Pajamas will have you believe all is well in the kingdom.

Homeschooling is going well. 2 students suspended for fighting and 1 teacher fired for drinking on the job.

I don't think anyone expected that when we changed the clocks we'd go from Standard Time to the Twilight Zone

So, after this quarantine.....will the producers of My 600 Pound Life just find me or do I find them?

Quarantine Day 5: Went to this restaurant called THE KITCHEN. You have to gather all the ingredients and make your own meal. I have no clue how this place is still in busines

Day 5 of Homeschooling: One of these little monsters called in a bomb threat

I'm so excited --- it's time to take out the garbage. What should I wear?

I hope the weather is good tomorrow for my trip to Puerto Backyarda. I'm getting tired of Los Livingroom.

Classified Ad: Single man with toilet paper seeks woman with hand sanitizer for good clean fun.

Day 6 of Homeschooling: My child just said "I hope I don't have the same teacher next year".... I'm offended.

Better 6 feet apart than 6 feet under .

And:

The best way to show the end to mitigation and return to normal is for the Prez have a MAGA rally and mingle.

We're all in this together.

POY quality.

Came across this in an article from CNN

Fauci mistakenly downplayed the initial threat of coronavirus to the US in late February when he said the "country as a whole ... still remains at low risk," though the infectious disease expert was referring specifically to an outbreak in Washington state and qualified that "this is an evolving situation." Fauci did, however, tell radio host John Catsimatidis in late January that coronavirus "isn't something the American public needs to worry about or be frightened about," adding, "because we have ways of preparing and screening" those coming from countries impacted by the virus.

The country is going to eventually split apart......like the Republic it was modeled after.

One party prides itself on limited government and a Constitutional based approach. The other wants a European style, top down government. They cannot coexist. It's like Mike Leach and Coach Ken from Navy being offensive coordinators on the same team.

Would be nice if they actually did that instead of lip service.

Trump wants to fire the leading disease expert in the country because he contradicts Trump's unrealistic views of when to re- open the country. Just like anyone who doesn't support his agenda, Donald will fire him.
I don't know about you guys but when it comes to valuing opinions, I'll listen to Fauchi, who is not blame here. Dr Fauchi was referring specifically to the state of Washington's outbreak. He also called it an evolving situation that needs to be monitored and acted on quickly. That was from the same article Fauchi shouldn't be the fall guy. Human life is greater than dollars.

“ Harvard Research: Peak of Pandemic Likely to Recur After Social Distancing”

https://medium.com/@pwspictures/har...to-recur-after-social-distancing-df78d2242658

Good article. Thanks for posting. That is a real fear that social distancing is too effective, we will not have an adequate herd immunity built up and there will be a resurgence of cases. However, I remain optimistic that this will not turn into a repeat of the 1918 Spanish Flu. Universities and companies around the world are working tirelessly to find a solution to this. The amount of knowledge, resources and development we have today compared to 1918 makes me hopeful there will some sort of treatment options that will make this virus less intimidating and allow us to return to a somewhat normal life.

Caveat: I have no inside information at this time, this is just my hope and gut feeling.

I pray you are correct. Here’s the immediate result of the US Housing Crisis:

$5 trillion in pension money, real estate value, 401K, savings, & bonds had disappeared. 8 million people lost their jobs. 6 million lost their homes. And that was just in the USA

100% - If you look at his Twitter account he retweeted a tweet calling for Fauci to be fired.

For the "well hindsight is 20/20" crowd, that is a reasonable argument if you're making it with a reasonable actor. Limiting the funding for the pandemic response team and purposely misleading the public into March is not actions of a reasonable actor.

If you die with $2 dollars vs $2 million dollars you're still in the same place. I know I would trade a short term hit to my savings if it meant a reduction in lives lost, but of course that needs a buy in from everyone.

I really don't understand "hindsight is 20/20" term, which seems to dismiss what we all are doing. With so many lives lost, economy cratering, trillions spent to prop up businesses and people. What could we have done better, where were mistakes made or where can improvements to be made. Hindsight is what we do. Facts emerge in short time in today's world. You cannot act like the boy with his finger in the dike and establish a committee for "messaging".

I hesitate to stray into the political side but that seems to be what many of us are addressing.

We - Congress and the executive branch under Bush - had detailed and comprehensive plans developed over years for a pandemic. Authority and responsibility with chains of command and avenues for input were clearly established to minimize a pandemic's impact. All anticipated something like this emerging and threatening almost every aspect of American life.

Retrospective analysis, sure. Fprmally, that was done by GAO after the Swine Flu pandemic with recommendations on improvements. You can't fire the GAO. The same analysis will be done.

INFLUENZA PANDEMIC:
Lessons from the H1N1 Pandemic Should Be Incorporated into Future Planning
GAO-11-632: Published: Jun 27, 2011. Publicly Released: Jun 27, 2011.

First paragraph under Highlights:
The 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic was the first human pandemic in over four decades, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimate that there were as many as 89 million U.S. cases. Over $6 billion was available for the response, led by the Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Homeland Security (DHS), with coordination provided by the Homeland Security Council (HSC) through its National Security Staff (NSS). In particular, HHS's CDC worked with states and localities to communicate with the public and to distribute H1N1 vaccine and supplies. GAO was asked (1) how HHS used the funding, (2) the key issues raised by the federal response, and (3) the actions taken to identify and incorporate lessons learned. GAO reviewed documents and interviewed officials from five states about their interaction with the federal government. GAO also reviewed documents and interviewed officials from HHS, DHS, the Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), NSS, and others, such as associations.

First paragraph under Recommendations:
Recommendation: In order to help the federal government prepare for a future influenza pandemic, the Homeland Security Council should direct the National Security Staff to work with the Departments of Health and Human Services and Homeland Security--as well as other federal agencies and state and local jurisdictions, as applicable--to update planning and exercising by incorporating lessons learned from federal agencies' H1N1 after-action reports and the lessons we identified from the H1N1 pandemic. These lessons may include (1) developing communication strategies for better managing public expectations about pandemic vaccine availability while working to reduce the length of time required to produce a pandemic vaccine; (2) identifying state and local jurisdictions' need for materials for non-English-speaking populations and examining ways to facilitate the timely and efficient translation of key communication materials; and (3) updating Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) plans by identifying tools for tracking SNS supplies, ensuring that the supplies in the SNS meet the needs of states and local jurisdictions, and accommodating previously unanticipated scenarios, such as the need for possible long-term storage or recovery of unused supplies.

Agency Affected: Executive Office of the President: Homeland Security Council

We don't need to dismiss expectations as hindsight when all that's needed is to executive a plan prepared years in advance, updated, and discussed in testimony with Congress and their expectations.

Of course. Might as well post Dr. Anthony Fauci's bio. He has held this office since 1984 and helped guide the government's response to HIV, SARS, the 2009 swine flu pandemic, MERS, Ebola and COVID-19.

But we're in good hands. Trump said on his visit to the CDC March 6:
THE PRESIDENT: And, by the way, NIH, what they’ve done — I spent time over there — and I like this stuff.

You know, my uncle was a great person. He was at MIT. He taught at MIT for, I think, like a record number of years. He was a great super genius. Dr. John Trump.

I like this stuff. I really get it. People are surprised that I understand it. Every one of these doctors said, “How do you know so much about this?” Maybe I have a natural ability. Maybe I should have done that instead of running for President.

Why does he need Fauci?

The number of daily new cases and daily new deaths in Indiana has now decreased 3 days in a row. Hopefully this is the start of the downside of the curve for Hoosiers.

They are seeing promising results in Covid-19 patients from a BTKI which treat hematological diseases like CLL.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/nathan...ce-shows-early-promise-for-covid-19-patients/

Thanks, great article. Tocilizimab has also had favorable results as an IL6 inhibitor but the BTKIs being upstream of IL6 in the cytokine storm pathway is a brilliant target. So many promising medications. The trump card (pun?) would be a medication that would prevent hospitalizations.

Texas Gov Greg Abbott (R) says that, when it is apprpriate, the Texas economy reopens, it will be a "slow process". He is creating "a comprehensive team" that he said will "evaluate what must be done for Texas to open back up, ensuring what we are doing is consistent with data, with medical analysis, as well as strategies about which type of businesses will be able to open up."

"This is not gonna be a rush-the-gates, everybody-is-able-to-suddenly-reopen-all-at-once" situation."

The total of coronavirus cases in Texas hit at least 13,906, with 287 deaths, according to the latest numbers from the Texas Department of State Health Services. Out of Texas' 254 counties, 178 are reporting cases.

"We will ensure that a component of that will include adequate testing," Abbott said, adding that he just had an hourlong conference call with Vice President Mike Pence and Deborah Birx, the White House coronavirus response coordinator, about the testing necessary to "safely reopen the state for doing business."

A Texas A&M medical special says Texas is at Stage 2 in a five stage process.

Texas has America’s second-largest state economy, which produced nearly $1.9 trillion of economic output in 2019, which would have ranked the Lone Star State as the world’s 9th largest economy last year.

This came a day after President Donald Trump urged states to get their testing capabilities "perfected" — and hours after Trump declared on Twitter that he has power over governors when it comes to restoring state economies

The lead investigator for Calquence was also heavily involved in Imbruvica trials so he knows BTKIs inside & out. This is a legit trial...the FDA is moving into Phase 2. Pretty novel how they are using Coca-Cola to activate the MOA..
