There’s no way that 15 year deal is going to happen lol.
Why not? 15-0 is looking pretty good right now.

I like this response. So Notre Dame plays 5 ACC games a year, scheduled a 15 year deal with Clemson (doesn’t count towards their 5 ACC games), and gets fucked by their officials every Saturday.
Either cut ties with the ACC or just be a full member. This half in, half out thing is only screwing them over.
So far, one of the better changes I've seen in a while. At a minimum all reviews need to be broadcasted like the ACC has started to do. At least make the process somewhat transparent.

But they didn't do that for the NC St game.At a minimum all reviews need to be broadcasted like the ACC has started to do. At least make the process somewhat transparent.

Supposedly it’s only for acc vs accWhich conveniently has been done for every ACC game on ESPN, except the BC game. It's a total fucking joke.

I wish it was as simple as "just stop with the ACC" but they are contractually obligated until this stupid thing expires. I'm sure they've looked into it and there is a good reason they haven't. Whether or not it's a scheduling issue with other teams being less open to scheduling tough OOC games, or if it's truly a monetary reason that they aren't, I'm personally not sure. I assume it' the former. Look at USC bailing on the rivalry, IU's cowardly scheduling model, etc. I'm not sure if they're confident they could easily replace the required 5 games that this point. So Notre Dame plays 5 ACC games a year, scheduled a 15 year deal with Clemson (doesn’t count towards their 5 ACC games), and gets fucked by their officials every Saturday.

The NFL doesnt have division or conference refs; its a national pool. Why not use the NFL referee pool since they are not full-time? Especially since College Football is the minor league for the NFL lolThe NCAA or the conferences need to come to an agreement where there are no conference affiliations, just a large pool. Mandatory training every year with officials getting graded every game. Officials can submit what games they want, but the governing body has final say on who gets assigned where. There's way too much money being made to say this isn't feasible.
I’ve done the chains for my son’s high school games for 3 years. The refs all say the parents are by far the worst part of it and they get an earful from coaches on a regular basis. I believe it. We’ve got a few parents this year that are nuts. Coaching seems like a nightmare when idiots dads are sending you weekly game plans. It’s always the dumbest ones who are the most confident in their ideas (not surprising). “Coach, I saw Bama run this trick play…” Good times. The biggest problem with replay, whether it is American Football or English Football and all the sports in between, is that they're not as interested in getting the call right as they should be. The guys in the booth want to spare the feelings of their friends on the field who missed it when it is clear because of the 30 cameras in the stadium that the guys on the field got it wrong. Everyone at home can see they got it wrong. So the booth guys decide to go with their boys on the field regardless of that.
That all being said, as a youth sports parent, finding referees for anything has become difficult. I don't think this is a problem exclusive to certain sports or certain states. Nobody wants to do it. There are probably multiple factors as to why that is, but I am going to speculate that part of the reason why is that people are psycho slapdick chucklefucks and referees have to deal with these people to the point that whatever they are getting paid simply isn't enough, and for a side hustle at that. if you want know why they can't find referees for sports, just check out a youth soccer match or baseball game and observe how parents behave. And grandparents for that matter. Yes, the Boomers have figured out who to yell Offside but don't really know what offside.
For NFL and major college football, these guys need to be full time or if that simply isn't an option, there has to be more continuous training and development. There is zero consistency and while they cannot be perfect, they can at least be consistent.
I don't even know how to address the gambling component. Legalized gambling was going to have multiple fallouts. People are human, including referees, coaches and players. People are also greedy AF.
It's nauseating.I’ve done the chains for my son’s high school games for 3 years. The refs all say the parents are by far the worst part of it and they get an earful from coaches on a regular basis. Ole Miss is one of SEC’s best chances to be represented in the CFP. So of course they’re going to get every single call. This is PI 100 times out of 100.
