Kirk Herbstreit just reported that Les Miles will be named head coach at UM next week... he also said that Miles is bringing John Tenuta, the D coordinator from Georgia Tech. Am i the only one the slightest bit worried about playing Tenuta every year?

Doesnt matter who the defensive coordinator is for les miles. We wont beat michigan very much anymore I dont think due to the fact that les miles is one of the best (if not the best) college football coach out there. but due to that fact that tenuta may be the d coordinator just expect to get blown out like usual.

All the news guys in Atlanta were saying that Tenuta wants the HC job at Tech. Hope he gets it.

What?! I really wish you were kidding, but I know you're not. Miles is smug and wreckless, he's lucky his "great coaching" didn't coat them wins against Florida and Auburn too. BTW, you do realize that ND beat GT last year, right?

Les Miles has done less w/ more than any coach in recent memory. He had the talent to win the NC both last year & this year...instead he finished ea. season w/ two losses.

Had Nick Saban or another coach of his stature been at LSU, there's little doubt that either the '06 or the '07 team would've been playing for the NC.

Miles had 24 seniors on his LSU team this year.

The Alabama fans are hoping Miles stays at LSU as they figure that is their best hope of beating LSU

You try coaching in the SEC these days and see if you can win every game! When Les Miles goes to the big 10 he will dominate pretty much everyone. Michigan has some of the best talent all around in the country (even better than Lsu) but had a lame coach. Michigan will soon dominate people its gonna happen wether you like it or not.

LSU should have gone undefeated this year. The only teams that should have been tough were Auburn and Florida, and they beat them. LSU's two losses came to Kentucky (whose only victory over a ranked team was LSU; they finished 7-5) and Arkansas (whose only victory over a ranked opponent was LSU and a way overranked SoCarolina who lost to Vanderbilt).

That's the point the others are making, he can make lesser opponents look better.

If he does go to Michigan, let's hope he makes us look good for years to come. Better yet, let's hope we'rrrrrrrrre great! (think Tony the Tiger when you read that.)

When did I ever say he should win every game? What I'm saying is that he almost cost his team several victories because he's so smug and risky. Did you watch the Auburn or the Florida games? The Auburn one was really bad he let the clock wind all the way down when all they needed was a FG to tie. If that pass would have been incomplete they would have ran out of time and lost and had one or two time outs left unused. Don't kid yourself about LSU's talent. They're one of the most talented teams in the country and they have a huge recruiting advantage given that they are the only major university in a talent rich state.

And since the "university" part is more for appearances, at least when it comes to its football players.

After putting the hurt on us (which isn't anything to write home about this yeat), GT played absolutely mediocre this year (and that's in the ACC), which is why Gailey got the boot. So having Tenuta as d-cord may not mean much other than a different style of D.

Remember too that great coaches may not gel together to produce a unified product on the field. You can't just take the allstar coaches, put them on a team and expect the best results.

Allstar teams are fun to watch, but if those guys had to play together for more than 1 exhibition game, i think you'd have more fights and soap-opera drama than any team TO has been on.

Good for Miles. By making this the top headline in football 2 weeks ago, Michigan showed zero respect to Miles or the LSU program that was trying to win a bowl game. They thought that being big bad Michigan should trump all else, and by doing that, they put Miles in an awkward position at LSU. I'm glad to see this bite them in the ass.

I just saw his press conf and he doesn't mention Michigan, and says he is staying put. I don't think he would have that type of conf if he was planning on announcing afterwards that he was leaving. his name isn't Saban afterall.

Osborne refuses to comment on report Nebraska hires Pelini as coach - NCAA Football - Yahoo! Sports

Pelini, the Cornhuskers' defensive coordinator in 2003, denied the report when reached by the Lincoln Journal Star.

"I honestly don't know where they're getting their information," Pelini said in a story on the paper's Web site.

Osborne said Tuesday that he hadn't offered the job to anyone. Osborne designated himself interim coach on Wednesday, a formality that allowed him to make recruiting visits Thursday and Friday.

"It sure didn't come from me," he said of the ESPN report. "Until we make some official announcement, I wouldn't put much credence in that. There are so many rumors and so much speculation. We'll announce it when we're ready and everything is in place. It won't be too much longer.

"Other than that, I'm not commenting on rumors or reports."

So Les denies the rumors, now Pelini.

I know they are two different men, but Saban was also staying with the Miami Dolphins. You see how that turned out. I wouldn't put it past anyone after the season is done to re-evaluate. He did help ease tension in his own locker room. But what if they do lose to the Vols? Will he be tempted to leave?

If you listen to his words he picked them very carefully. He never said I am going to be at LSU next year. He said "I am the head coach of LSU" That is in the present tense and does not reflect the future. I still think he will goto Michigan but they are going to have to bring some cheese b/c he will probably get 3+ million from LSU.

Yea I think you are right. His presser was one of those overly reassuring statements that he will not be distracted and LSU is all he is thinking about. He'll be in Michigan come next season.

Not so fast you conspiracy theorists. Further reports state Miles has already inked an extension with LSU and it's nearly a million more per year than the reported amount UM was offering.

UM sort of screwed this up, when it let the Carr resignation, and things Carr said, be bandied into conversation about it being in doubt whether Miles was a "true Meeeshigun Man" (Who'd want to be THAT ??? ). Anyway, I wish him well.

Maybe UM can hire Nick Saban. He's coached in the Big Eleven before, and I hear he's always willing to listen to new offers. :)

Better yet, Ty may be available if Washington loses tonight. He may be interested in Michigan! They deserve him.

UCLA is 6-6 and needs an Arizona State victory tonight to have a shot at playing in a bowl game. It could have been the last game for UCLA coach Karl Dorrell (35-27 in five seasons) . UCLA has a news conference scheduled for Monday.
Reports are that he got the boot after today's game and it'll become final on Monday.

His words were a little more precise after the win. He said in no uncertain terms that he would be the coach of LSU next year. I'm so glad Michigan missed out.
