Deion to USF makes alot of sense. It's not that huge of a program, sort of a bottom feeder, but it doesnt allow him to climb too high too quicky. Div 1 is a different animal than FCS & HBCU schools. And you can bet some of his best players would join him. Travis Hunter, Kevin Coleman, and his son too. Shedeur can be a quality FBS QB, so it's benefit for him and his son.

Geographically, he would kill it recruiting South Florida alone. You would see more Top 200-300 players chose to play with Deion, without concerning how it could affect their NFL futures.

Not that it necessarily matters but USF is mis-named. It's located in Tampa, FL which isn't South Florida at all.

Of course that wouldn't stop him from recruiting South Florida but it's not USF's back yard, geographically speaking.

So, where does Ole Miss go? Offensive coach? Defensive? Retread? Up and comer?

Todd Monken, Jeff Lebby, Will Muschamp...

Bonkers. A dumb move, poorly timed. Any respect Kiffin had earned back goes up in smoke if this is true. Good luck to him. He'll need it in that tire fire of a program.

What’s wrong with the timing? The tweet is poorly timed. Not the move itself. He’d be taking a new job the second the season ends. Auburn needs to sign someone by signing day. 3 weeks to build a class.

It's pretty low class to let it leak - or agree to a deal - before Ole Miss has played its final regular season game. Even BK wasn't that shitty. And Kiffin would be going to a team his old team plays every year. That won't be easily forgotten.

I mean clearly he would rather it didn’t leak. That’s like saying it was shitty of BK to let it leak while he was at Merriweather’s house.

Ole Miss knows they are a stepping stone. I know many who went there. They’ve been waiting for the other shoe to drop for this specifically for weeks, in general for over a year.

I guess. I just think "stepping stone to Auburn" is a pretty crappy situation. Kiffin could have done so much better in another year or two..

He didn’t leak it, someone else did. He would have preferred it didn’t.

Your answer why it leaked (if it’s even correct). I’m guess someone leans Bulldog in covering both teams.

Yeah. Probably. But that right there is why you don't want to be at Auburn. They can't even manage to hire a coach without stepping on their own dicks.

I'm so confused by the Lane to Auburn move. I see it as a lateral, or at best, slight step up. There's certainly lots of jobs better than the Auburn one. I thought Lane wanted to ditch the reputation as a job hopper?

I’m seeing reports that Auburn could make a coaching change before the Iron Bowl though. Probably let the HC go and have someone take over for the game.

Facilities and alumni support is on another level at Auburn. Ole Miss is a decent job, but I'm not sure you can ever win a national championship there. You can at Auburn.

See I'm not sure about that. Couldn't you just say Auburn's one recent national title is just a result of lucking into $Cam and not a result of anything institutional? Ole Miss even has more titles all time. And at Auburn, you'll always be second-fiddle in state.

The current HC is Cadillac Williams who is beloved by the fan base. I expect he will be on the next staff even if he doesn’t keep on as HC.

You “can” if you land a generational QB. Maybe. But you’re forever second fiddle to Bama in your own state, with annual games against a bunch of programs with more firepower, and you walk into one of the worst booster situations in college football.

I’d agree straight-up Auburn is a better job than Ole Miss, but only marginally. And if Kiffin bides his time another year or two he could actually do significantly better. Auburn is probably a well-paid dead end.
