They matched what Elko was offered. He bolted anyway.

Rees left because he wanted to coach in the big time and win a natty. Same as Kelly.
Rees made the right choice in going to Alabama. He has the opportunity to learn how to run a college program from the greatest of all time in the modern era. Which also gives him experience away from the Brian Kelly coaching tree, which is more of a stick than tree.

They matched, then A&M upped the offer, Elko came back to ND and ND said they wouldn't go higher. This was well documented across the premium sites at the time.

Man....I want to keep believing he is the guy, but stuff like this is so ridiculous, it's hard to keep the faith

Greathouse looked like he was gonna be a huge impact. He was getting separation making great catches w/ his hands. Now he’s more likely to commit more penalties than receptions.
I don't think this is on Greathouse. At the beginning of the season he was splitting with Tyree at Slot I believe, and that's where Hartman was doing most of his damage. Today he's behind Thomas at WR-Z. Faison is the one backing up Tyree in the Slot now.

Maybe we run a two slot set!? Is there such a thing? Two TEs, 2 RBs etc two slot receivers?

It does but it doesn't fix the missed throws.
I agree Sam hasn’t looked sharp the last few games, but If we’re not running such a predictable offense, it relieves some pressure allowing Sam time to work more of the field.

Wonder if ND tried to induce Lenzy to come back for sixth year w/ some NIL? Sure as hell could’ve used him even if it meant switching WR positions.

While I agree, some of his throws have been BAD. Like Pyne bad.

Every year I get that reminder...realization...That ND is a 9-10 win team, and the university is 100% content with that...This is the game that reminded me of it. Is what it is..
For sure, but the problem will be when we lose one or two more. We are still trying to negotiate a new contract with NBC and we could be heading toward a real clucker of a season. Hard to keep the facade up with this many issues.

OTOH we gave NBC two huge great-atmosphere night games against marquee programs this year. Best ratings for them in a long time.

Irish illustrated has been pretty tough after the game but yea Tim and others don’t ask tough questions. I don’t expect there to be tough questions but EVERY single question for 30 minutes should be on the offense
It’s left to that kid Tyler Horka to ask the tough questions and it makes him seem like a punk.

But it’s not just Correll. Spindler isn’t much more than a warm body as the LB makes quick work getting around him. And, Fisher ends up on his knees after the DE stacks and sheds his ass like he’s on the JV.
Correct.

We're starting to see that the offensive coaching staff as a whole, maybe minus McCollough, is just really really bad.

Fisher got abused on the plays highlighted in the broadcast. Maybe he did fine the rest of the day but I doubt it.

Writers should start every question w/ “Aside from execution…” when asking what else has gone wrong w/ the offense the past six games. My understanding is that MF’s answer all season has been “we didn’t execute”. Maybe it’s time to bring back BK’s botched John McKay joke.

I thought fisher had a solid game the first 3 quarters. When the fourth quarter turned into ND just dropping back and throwing, and clemson pinning their ears, he struggled.

I’d rest them when the offense is in.

With the way the offense is operating, they likely aren't getting too much rest.

I just don't understand why they decided to rest Morrison and Hart simultaneously on the same series. Was "rest" scheduled for any other defensive series in the game?

As mentioned in the G'Irish podcast (good listen, by the way), Klubnik threw for 59 yards that drive. He didn't throw for over 50 yards the remainder of the game.

The dline mixes and matches substitutions, but not sure in a close game have I seen the entire second team DL ever in

Sure. Totally agree. Obviously, you also have situational downs as well. Like you mentioned, I've never seen the entire second string DL or backers go in for a series. It's just kind of odd to rest your two starting corners (especially so early in the game). I'm not too sure I've seen that before.

i've seen it vs like, cmu, navy, tsu, pitt......... but not any of our close games. Typically Cross and or Mills is in with our 2nd string DEs in close games.
