Guys,
Let's not make a big fuss about this. I think we have all seen that Charlie will play anyone he believes will increase our chances to win. Cierre should not get frustrated and realize that his time will come. This is a not about one game, but more a career. He will get his and plenty of it. Hang in there Cierre. How would you like to be at USC where a guy like Marc Tyler is 5th on the depth chart. He will get plenty of chances at ND>

I would presume that when gong from HS amazing to just another amazing athlete at a skill position that it would be frustrating. I'd be itching to get in there too. He'll be ok.

Darius Walker did not play in week 1....check out week 2. Different cirumcumstances, but Cierre will have his time to shine.

Julius Jones didn't get to see the field until mid-season.

Holtz use to work a half dozen freshmen into PT over the course of a season. Weis played 7 true freshman on Saturaday along with a host of scrubs that got their first PT.

This thread is much ado about nothing.

We win a game comfortably and transfer speculation starts.

I like your signature jonesman. I had a t-shirt back then that said "Screw the polls: ND #1"

I watched and re-watched the game, and never even saw Cierre. His time will come soon enough. Sitting out this year would suck for him, but that extra year will pay off down the line.

Alot of freshman get frustrated when they have to sit. Deion Walker talked about how much he hated sitting, so did KLM. Why is there talk of him tranferring after one week? Wood will have his time.

Because some people can't handle prosperity.

ND has a winning streak that's wasn't 48 hours old and inane posts went up speculating about transfers, coaches leaving, and next year's OLine.

There are 11 more regular season games to play and a bowl game.

LOL i was wondering why so many threads were starting upp like that. Your absolutely right i was reading the coaches thread and thinking why do people assume we are gonna lose our entire staff.

Cierre Wood

Hey this kinda out of leftfield but does anyone have any insight about Cierre Wood? I'm assuming he probably won't play this year in order to keep his extra year of eligibility but wasn't certain. With the way our backs have been playing he's not needed anyway. I also checked the roster and saw he was listed at 218lbs. Has he really put on that much weight (Rivals.com had him at 192lbs last year) or is it just a misprint? With him being our most hyped recruit last year I was just curious.

Cierre, according to CW, is getting closer and closer to playing. That's why they even took him to Michigan last week, even though many times freshmen who are 'maybes' don't make road trips. Not saying he won't redshirt, but he's getting closer to showing us what he's got on Saturdays.

And yes, he yoked up in the offseason. Up to around 215-218...

ya that is what i heard to but i think this kid could be what ND need. I saw him at the open practice and he looked great. When is the last time ND had a runningback that was talked about a lot like on espn or something. I hate comparing every back in college to reggie bush push but i hope he is our version they virtually have the same dimesions, 6-0 200lbs. just my take

He is not Reggie but he has alot of talent. Never got to see him in person but from what i have seen he reminds me of Knowshon Moreno. Hopefully he ends up being that good for us

I merged your Cierre Wood thread with one that was started right after the Nevada game. There's an older one during early summer or perhaps during preseason camp which discusses his diligent workouts and his 25 pound weight gain.

During the last Recruiting Cycle, the ESPN scout evaluators repeatedly commented that while talented Wood ran too upright and they thought he was more of Div 1 Safety than a D-1 RB. Wood strongly disagreed with their evaluation.

Riddick got to see the field ahead of him due to speed as a return man. Charlie said he wouldn't play two freshmen back on kickoffs which keep Wood on the sideline. Riddick has got some RB PT but his Special Teams slot got him that opportunity.

Julius Jones didn't get PT in mid-season and after he got to play he commented that he needed every bit of the practice time to prepare for audibles, blitz pickups, and complexity of the offense. Weis' offense is a lot more complex than Tyrone's.
