I really hope it's Polian. I want to keep Chuck for a long time. I don't remember DBs tackling better than this year.
Imagine what this guy would do with the player specific position talent. Not to diminish our guys they hit and get it done but this guy has done well in 1 year. Pay the man.

Tough for me to believe he would leave ND after one year, after he left a premier DII school to come. I could see him possibly leaving for a prestigous D-Coordinator job, or a higher level HC job, but leaving ND one year after giving up the HC job at Grand Valley doesn't make sense to me. He could have had a job in the MAAC without going to ND if he so wanted. From all that he has said it seems like he is really enamored with the Irish job, and who knows if Diaco stock continues to rise and he moves on Martin would be a great D-Coordinator / Asst. Head Coach type.

Scene opens. Brian Kelly and Chuck Martin are sitting in Kelly's office.

Kelly: "Chuck?"

Martin: "Yeah?"

Kelly: "You actually looking elsewhere?"

Martin: "Kinda... maybe?"

Kelly sips at a cup of coffee gingerly.

Kelly: "I MADE YOU! I CAN AS EASILY DESTORY YOU!"

Martin: "So... does this mean you aren't writing me a recommendation letter?"

Kelly: "No. No I'm not."

Fade to black.

I think Chuck Martin would be good for a MAC school, but he needs to consider Ball State before Kent or NIU. Ball State was nearly a BCS buster in 08 with an undefeated regular season and multiple future NFL'ers. Mike Haywood from the Weis era has taken Miami from worst to first and Chuck Martin could do it too and fairly quickly as there is still talent down in Muncie. If there is a MAC school in the cards for Chuck Martin, Ball State would be the way to go.

Its a great launching pad by the way...former Coach Brady Hoke has turned around San Diego State in 2 yrs and nearly beat TCU this year in a 40-35 shootout. He was on staff at scUM for years and has put together a decent resume' as a second or third option for the Michigan job if Harbaugh doesn't work out.

1) BK stated earlier this season: he knows he won't have Chuck Martin forever.

2) Martin was on his way to more national titles and better HC opportunities before Kelly and ND came calling.

3) Martin said he's going to be a head coach again, but wants to get ND back on track first.

4) BK would be the first to write Martin a recommendation letter.

With all that said, I'd be disappointed to see Martin leave after one year. He's doing a helluva job and loves ND

You can't fault a man who wants to better his life, if that is indeed the case. If not, maybe he's looking for glory that he is directly responsible for. Anyway, if the SEC can give Newton 180K, ND should be able to drop more on Martin's head. C'mon.

He's the friggin Recruiting Coordinator. He is responsible for all of em!

Just kidding...given his area, I see Daniels and Brindza, but give him props on our DB commits, too

LOL Lep---i knew that---i was only wondering if he had that "Alford-like" sway over any specific commits in his Midwest area he is responsible for where if we were to lose him it could impact the recruit specifically---i think he stays regardless so wont matter.

I don't want to lose Chuck, but if we do.

At least we have coach Bobby Diaco still!

The defense is heading in the right direction, and I'm pumped to say that.

Hasn't he been offered head coaching jobs at D1 when he was head coach at grand valley? and he turned them all down right? If that is true, I doubt he leaves for any of those schools.

That makes sense to me. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

i realize one can make more money as a HC, but these schools stink. stick with ND and help take us back to the upper echelon and so many more prominent doors will open up.
