Nate Montana NOT wearing a red jersey, so he's fair game. He sounded great in there, they may want to rethink that.

OLine looks good in the first half.

Secondary looks good. McCarthy with some big hits.

Clausen is struggling. (bringing the house on him)

Tate and Floyd in the first half an absolute non factor.

my general impressions, I haven't looked at the stats or anything yet though.

Armando looked stronger. He wasn't going down at first contact as much. Rob also looked very good. It was hard to tell with Jonas because he was going against the 3rd team and a bunch of walkons, but he was running people over. Overall, I wasn't too impressed with the passing game, but it could have just been the format and the substitutions.

Beautiful weather, good crowd.

I think the scoring system was scewed in favor of the offense... there were also a few times where they could have called it a sack but didn't. However, I'd say the offense played better, just not as much better as the score indicated.

Golden played at the beginning of the game, but he left for the lockerroom right before halftime and didn't come back.

I thought Toryan Smith looked very impressive. He was in on a number of tackles and also did a good job of blowing up blockers allowing the guy right behind him to get the runner or getting into the backfield to disrupt the play. He was pretty good in pass coverage as well.

Duck, duck, goose was the most creative TD celebration I've seen in a while (Blanton and the D did it after the pick 6).

The Shirt 2009... just makes the stadium look all the more speckled. It is not something I will be wearing if I make the road trip to Purdue or Michigan because it will blend right in.

But more then anything...we have a shut down corner. Blanton is flat out ridiculous. Step for step with Floyd and who ever else he covered.

Walls did play for a few sets. I did not pay much attention to him but I heard his name over the loudspeaker more than once.

This was my first B&G game and it was far more boring than I anticipated. Most of the people by me did not even no the game started until after the first few plays.

it kind of sucked because they had 1/2 the stadium blocked off. It was the side where the tunnel is and all the recruits were on that side.

Over 31,000 people, 5th largest in ND history.

From what I've been told, the B&G game is not about the game, it's more about the party, going to the Linebacker before hand, or tailgating, and talking about all the players and the recruits and the upcoming season, etc. And then after the game drinking some more, and talking about who did what and who played well, etc. It's the last hurrah for 4 + months.

BTW, here's a nice write-up, and it also links to the stats and other things:

Exactly right,,,,,,Took the family to see the game because they are still too young to attend a normal ND game..That being said...The people behind us thanked my sons for entetaining them during the scrimmage...It was boring but like you say..4 months of no football....noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.......

BTW..The defense looks OUTSTANDING....

I wasn't there, but they looked outstanding giving up 247 yards on the ground?! I'm dieing for a running game, I just hope the DL isn't weak.

you do realize it's a 60 minute scrimmage with just about every player getting on the field right? just messing with ya, but our 4th string RB is an all-American as well.

My thoughts after seeing the game in person:

-Clausen struggled but he showed some improvements he needs to make. Other than his pick 6 he was going through his progressions and and not locking onto receivers. For example one play he looked off 3 guys and hit Kamara for a 10 yard gain. He also showed good mobility in the pocket. Other than USC he won't play a better secondary all year.

-Crist has a gun but he is fairly wild with his throws. He had one drive where 2 or 3 pass plays were called in a row and he missed on all 3. He needs some more time but he has massive potential.

-Montana looked solid. He doesn't have the arm Clausen or Crist does but he is a solid player.

-The running game looked great. Armando Allen can jet, and he was really impressive in the open field. Hughes is a monster, and Jonas Gray looked really good. We could go 3 (4 if Aldridge remains at RB) deep at the RB position. Loads of talent and I don't expect Cierre Wood to see the field at all next fall.

-The OL looked improved but it still needs work. Duncan is a monster.

-The run defense sucks. We are athletic and the back 7 is terrific but any team that is good on the ground is going to give us mucho problems. I don't see this team playing USC close at all with this run defense. Ethan Johnson was awesome though.

-Back seven was terrific. Blanton is going to be a superstar. Harrison looked good at safety. Zeke Motta impressed at LB as did Filer and Toryan Smith. If the DL steps up this could be the best defense since Willingham's first year here.

Zeke Motta is gonna be a stud. he was flying around the field. he had to have the most tackles.
