(I will preface this with the fact that I love his work in general. His podcasts are GREAT)

I just re watched the Blue Gold Game, and I saw a couple comments in the B G G thread, bug GODDAMNNNN , what do we have to do to make sure Simms is in the booth for every home game this fall?!?!! The guy knows his shit, knows his to express his point, and like others have said, he’s not afraid to be a bit Pro-ND while also being fair (was realistic with his Mile Boykin eval)

Overall, the guy is great and an easy listen! SIGN HIM UP!

K, done man crushing, thanks!

I thought he sounded amateurish, and I think all this praise of him is proof that the average fan cares less about good commentary and more that commentary in question "kiss the ring" and be effusive in praise of ND.

Hahah well thanks for the insult ...

But also you couldn’t be more wrong . This guy knows more about football and expresses it better than literally 99% of the guys we’ve had on our ND NBC Coverage (aside from Mayock). This has NOTHING to do with ND praise, that’s just an added bonus

I also enjoyed Simms a great deal. He may not be the ultimate professional that Mike Tirico is, but there's not many of those out there. Not to mention, Doug Flutie is the ultimate AMATEUR. I would make the trade and never look back.

Simms + Tirico would be the best broadcast combo of my lifetime.

Not an insult I just think part of the reason everyone likes him is because he lays it on so thick. He would likely be better than Flutie, but that's a low bar. I'm still just salty we never got a Tirico/Mayock booth.

Well, to be fair; we haven’t heard Simms do an ND game against a true opposing team so you don’t know that he wouldn’t adjust his commentary appropriately. Second, it’s a Spring Game...that’s a lot of air to fill when covering a glorified practice. I took his enthusiasm for the fact that he truly loves the game of college football. I’ll take him over Flutie, Gary Danielson, Greg McElroy, Jessie Palmer, Dan Orlovsky and most of the other current color analysts that come to mind. I’m undecided on Herbstreit but admit I’m salty over his passive-aggressive ND rhetoric RE: CFP talk last season.

BERY valid point .... of course he is going to be even too pro-ND during OUR spring game. I would deff love to hear him during a real one

I'd like Simms but like grey hammer said, "better than Flutie" is a very low bar. You can actually hear his pants get tight when something goes wrong for nd.
