Ok Sox fans, 50 wins and in first at the all star break. They were 32-63 last year at this point.
3 all-stars, so many young guns and Cholowsky with the first pick in the draft yesterday!!

I agree, besides Roch they drafted some great pitching prospects, Thome’s kid, and some lively prep bats. Really solid draft.

Yes love the Sox grew up playing baseball my whole life, decided to not play in college but topped out at 82-83 MPH. Love the HS guys they took, should be interesting on what they decide to do at the trade deadline. I would go after a number 2 or 3 starter who has years of control.

There’s been a lot of talk around Detmers from Anaheim who fits that bill. Logan Webb from SF, too, but he’s been pretty poor of late.

Not sold on Detmers. I’d go after a guy like Foster Griffin or Cavalli. Also wonder what it would cost to land Gray?

Once you're one of Jerry's guys, you're one of his guys. They traded with the Pirates to get that 34th pick with every intention of using it on Landon Thome.

It also gave them more pool money than anyone else in the draft. They leaned toward college players, which is good.

I wonder if non White Sox fans hear Jim Thome and think Cleveland Indians. I'm a Sox fan and when I think of Thome my brain still defaults to Cleveland.

Agreed. Same. Which is the reason why. I believe he went into Cooperstown as a Red Sox.

I am also happy I took that at even money preseason to have over 67.5 wins. Lets hope they can go a lot more than 18-49 to close out the second half!

Pudge is one of those guys who you can legit call it an even split. Dude had more All-Stars in Boston, a killer World Series moment (albeit they lost that series in infamous fashion), but he won all three of his Silver Slugger awards between Shields and 35th.

Thome and Raines are guys who made most of their career in Cleveland and Montreal respectively, but they became mainstays with the White Sox, and continued to be big parts of the organization after their playing days were done.

I remember when he went to Chicago b/c he lived in Lockport for awhile which is where my grandparents lived. thatsaid, I always think of him as BoSox but still produced in Chicago too. Loved their ‘83 run

I think the biggest need for the White Sox is the following or biggest priorities:
1. Sign Murakami to an extension. I'd do a 5 year 125 million dollar deal.
2. Trade for a pitcher with 2-3 years of control. A number 2 or 3 starter quality.
3. Trade for a legit closer. Chapman maybe.
4. Lock Montgomery up for the long term. I'd like to see a 8 year deal worth 175-200 Million.
5. Lock up Vargas long term. 6 year deal worth 150 Million.
6. This offseason go out and sign the best pitcher available.
