I see your point but we have two guys, Eloy and Abreu, that can hit the piss out of the ball and struggle in the field. Vaughn is a six foot tall right handed first baseman so you can probably add him to the list of average fielders that can hit, assuming he's as good as advertised in the majors.
I'd pass and use the money on an elite SP, if that's even an option.
Abreu and Vaughn play first base. Not exactly the end of the world if they don't win Gold Gloves over there. Eloy plays left, the one OF position where you can afford a dropoff in defensive metrics. Abreu was the best offensive player on that team, Eloy was third. Tim Anderson was second.
If you have butchers at catcher, short and center you're probably in serious trouble. First and Left are not nearly as consequential defensively, as the two gentlemen you mentioned have proven. Schwarber can't slug over .500 so what's he giving you? At least these guys are providing value in plate appearances.
Keep getting guys who can hit the piss out of the ball if you are able, or when they're not they're walking and getting on if you are able to. You have the utiliy guys on the bench to close out games defensively.
They could use another starter and two corner outfielders. They'd be a force.
