Even by post Covid Zoom standards, that presser was weird. Rick Hahn didn't look like a guy who was excited about this hire, and he's done the heavy lifting of this rebuild. For me, if this is my guy, I'm pumped up that my team is on the cusp and I'm hiring my leader to get my team to a championship.
Could've had Hinch for the next ten years. You'll have LaRussa for three or four. Just seems like a waste. Now your GM might decide this isn't for him and HE leaves.
Bizarre, but everything i have seen of their chairman with this club and with the Bulls leads me to believe this isn't all that surprising. Keeps a tight insular circle.
Seems like in Chicago as with the Cubs and Blackhawks, some kind of major change in ownership is needed for the team to reach the mountain top. Reinsdorf rode Michael Jordan to six championships and got the 2005 World Series. Both teams really haven't heard from since.
Leads me to believe that the White Sox won't be going anywhere with this guy as chairman of the club.
