Multi year deal? He's 76 WTF is that!!!!

Also, I hope they talked to free agent targets, agents to see if any of them would want to play for him. Stroman liked a tweet that pretty much said he wouldn't want to play for him.

Stroman retweeted it, stating that is was not true.

Still hate this signing. If the elder statesmen route was the way to go, Bochy was a much better pick.

Dumbest.. Yes he was a great coach and did well forever, but the league, and the world has changed so much since he left. Unless they are bringing in the youngest most data forward assistants, I hate this hire.

To be fair to Tony, since retiring as a manager, he's been involved in team baseball operations since 2014 with the D-Backs, Red Sox and Angels, and has been the senior advisor for the coaches within the Red Sox and Angels.

So while it's been a minute since he's managed, we aren't picking him up after spending 9 years in an old folks community down in Ft Myers.

Geez, that’s a horrible hire. And nobody else was interviewed?!? Reinsdorf is the worst.

May as well bring back the navy untucked jerseys w/ the collar and wear shorts for a few games in the summer.

Maybe Tony can find Richard “280Z” Dotson & Lamar Hoyt and coax them into coming back from retirement to shore up that staff.

Well he can't call Seaver.

I could run by Bannister's house and see what he's up to. He lives two doors down from my buddy. Of course, he's a street down from the Chairman's winter crib so Jerry will probably hit him up when Floyd comes over to mow his grass.

What about Leyland, any chance they could roll out his wheel chair to third so he can coach. Maybe set up a coffee table so he can put his carton of Lucky Strikes on it?

Even by post Covid Zoom standards, that presser was weird. Rick Hahn didn't look like a guy who was excited about this hire, and he's done the heavy lifting of this rebuild. For me, if this is my guy, I'm pumped up that my team is on the cusp and I'm hiring my leader to get my team to a championship.

Could've had Hinch for the next ten years. You'll have LaRussa for three or four. Just seems like a waste. Now your GM might decide this isn't for him and HE leaves.

Bizarre, but everything i have seen of their chairman with this club and with the Bulls leads me to believe this isn't all that surprising. Keeps a tight insular circle.

Seems like in Chicago as with the Cubs and Blackhawks, some kind of major change in ownership is needed for the team to reach the mountain top. Reinsdorf rode Michael Jordan to six championships and got the 2005 World Series. Both teams really haven't heard from since.

Leads me to believe that the White Sox won't be going anywhere with this guy as chairman of the club.

This is well stated.

I think the Chairman doesn't see the world through any sort of lens other than his own. He doesn't get it. He's a rich 84 year old who could really care less about what is happening outside of the tiny bubble he's in, which is even smaller now likely due to Covid.

I think any GM with any kind of self worth would have quit. Maybe Hahn still might, but it says quite a bit about the organization if he sticks around. You let the GM do his job.

Lot of chatter in Chicago circles that Rick Hahn stays this year, leaves and takes Cubs role, when Theo departs next season. That woudl be a total slap in the face.

Wouldn't surprise me if firing RR was never originally the plan, but when TLR finally wanted to take the job, Jerry dropped everything and made sure he was the guy.

Yeah, again, my fear isn't that TLR will be a bad hire, but that this ultimately drives Hahn away from the Sox. Can't imagine he's happy with Jerry pulling strings to get his guy while undermining him.

Hahn, and Hahn alone, have gotten this rebuild to where it is. All that was left was getting the right guys in the dugout to lead the team.

Intead, Jerry clips his nuts and doesn't let Hahn hire his own guy.

Very curious to see who the bench coach and pitching coach wind up being here. Every name on Twitter is a former Sox or Cardinals player.

This has to be the most insular organization in sports.

I'm glad I'm old.

I've seen some great teams on the Southside. Teams with characters to boot. The Thomas era and just after was 15 years of great baseball even if we "only" won one title.

I have little love for the McCaskey's regarding their lifelong grip on the Bears but when it comes to Jerry, he oversaw 7 titles for me. It's his team to do with what he wants and that's not lost on me. But once again, 7 titles in my sports life is nothing to sneeze at. Most folks my age outside of Boston or LA can't touch the memories Jerry & Rocky have given me along with the '85 Bears of course.

God & vaccines willing, I'll be there on opening day of spring training to watch my boys.

Quite a week for Maricopa County, Arizona.

Read the police report. He mouthed off to the cop and acted like a complete drunken ass.

And the team knew about this when they hired him.

Jerry Reinsdorf was one of the four owners who voted against the Mets new ownership. Jerry is an absolute scumbag.

The process that led to this hire sucked BEFORE this news was known to the public. This just makes it worse.

This is a chairman/owner who has now created a PR nightmare that has upset his employees and fans at a time when this team should be looking FORWARD to their future.

Meanwhile, their division rival Tigers hired the guy who the CWS GM actually wanted and are building a staff up already.

This is really a sad state of affairs with this club.

Steve Cohen on Mets payroll: “This is a major market team. It should have a budget commensurate with that.”

This is why Jerry Reinsdorf voted against Cohen's ownership of the Mets.

Feels like this window they have could go to waste. I can't imagine who would want to sign there as a free agent with all of this.

White Sox are close to hiring Ethan Katz as pitching coach.

This is Lucas Giolito's HS coach and off season coach who is very well thought of in baseball circles.

Big hire.

His reaction yesterday was enough for me to believe that anyone who thinks this 60 game season didn't mean anything is an idiot.

Couldn't be happier for the guy. Seems like the perfect teammate locker room guy, and the game means more to him than just between the foul lines. Cheers 79!!

Should see the final staff hirings here shortly. I keep hearing that Jose Qquendo is going to be involved somehow.

I really like the pitching coach hire. We'll see how the rest pans out.
