Dane Dunning, RHP, White Sox (Double-A Birmingham): 7 IP, 5 H, 1 ER/R, 0 BB, 9 K.

This was the third piece in the Adam Eaton trade with Lopez and Giolito. I still can't get over them getting all that for Adam Eaton.

Dunning might be the best of the bunch when all is said and done, and he could beat Kopech to the Bigs if this keeps up.

Dunning from that link the other day is projected for a September Call up.. I could see it.. He pitched in college, has more innings under his belt developing. I hope he does. Ive said all along this was a major trade haul the sox got in return for Eaton. That is what makes me wonder if we could have gotten more for Sale than we did.. Sale is a special talent.. Think we could have gotten one more High A prospect in that trade.

You are right about not being patient it is driving me nuts. These are young kids seeing pitchers for the first time, have to see tendencies. Also, please stop bunting - Sincerely every Sox fan.

White Sox hitting coach Todd Steverson, March 2, 2018:

We’re an approach-orientated organization. Specifically, be on time, have an idea of what you’re looking for and swing at strikes. We know nothing good happens from swinging at balls out of the zone. The thought process is recognition of the strike zone and attacking the strike zone. The words we use are “selectively aggressive” to the strike zone. Everybody’s career is built upon their ability to recognize and consistently put strikes in play.

Would be massive to move him.

I think the White Sox will take Brady Singer in the Draft if he's there. I like the Oregon State guy they compare to Altuve because he's short.

Singer is way more polished than Carson Fulmer was and far less polarizing among the scouts.

Nick Madrigal it is.

Love the pick. Sox are megastacked with arms and outfielders. Need legitimate two-way infielders.

This guy is that. Doesn't possess great power, but is such an advanced hitter and that it really doesn't matter. Combine that with a superb glove, and that's a guy you want manning the SS/2B spot. Comparisons to Altuve are legitimate beyond simply his height.

This also frees up the Sox to move Anderson or Moncada (or both) to best position to infield to improve the defense overall. Ideally, move Moncada to 3B and this guy is the 2B of the future for the Sox, provided he develops as expected.

I also don't see him in the minors for that long. He's already very polished all-around, so some minor adjustments and he'll be ready as soon as early next season.

Lot of talk that Anderson moves to CF. Jimenez and Robert will be our corner outfielders. Moncada will move to Short. Madrigal to 2B. Having played in college, you would hope that it doesn't take him years to get to the pros and he can produce. Finally a pick that is a consensus top 5 pick. Not a project. Hope it pines out for him. Sox have the luxury with Anderson, (who has power numbers this year, but his OBP and BA are down, BB's are up, Homers and RBIs up,) that he has a very team friendly contract. He is young, has plenty of speed and we can try him out there now while we are trying to build this team. No better time to experiment. I like TA. Hope the best for him, but this is an exciting pick for this organization.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if that were the case.

I think Moncada/Anderson/Madrigal makes up your 2B/SS/3B core. Anderson moving to OF doesn't make all that much sense, given outside of Jimenez and Robert, the Sox still have Rutherford, Adolfo and Basabe, all very high level prospects in the OF.

Moncada hasn't played SS to my recollection in his major or minor league career. He has played 3B, which if Madrigal comes up, I imagine the move would be him to 3B and Madrigal at 2nd. I think Anderson remains at SS. He's had his struggles, but so far this season, he's been significantly better defensively. Showing a lot of power with the bat, but he needs to do better at getting on-base.

Honestly I don't think anyone moves just yet, you need depth in your system. If the Sox sign Machado then what?

Not too long ago, the Mighty Cubs had a slew of middle infielders. There were questions about where the Astros would put everyone they had too. That all worked out. Things tend to have a way of doing that.

The Phillies took a third baseman who is close to six foot seven. Not a peep about that, but the short guy has all the question marks? He was a consensus top five pick among the data guys and the scout guys. When both schools of baseball like a player, it's hard to argue. Doesn't mean they are all right, but if the Sox miss on this guy, they will have missed with just about everyone.

I was glad they went with the kid from Oregon State. What timing for him considering Altuve is the current AL MVP. Then that Singer kid dropped like a stone to Kansas City. This kid has a .406/.473/.594/1.067 slash line with 13 BB and 5 K.

The OU guy is a good hit tool guy. I don't think they reached on him where they took him. Long upper cut swing I've read, but he's got some plate recognition.

So far, so good. My favorite system in baseball to follow as a neutral just got a little bit more interesting.

JJ Cooper the Executive Editor of Baseball America was on radio here today and said, Madrigal was the best bat in the draft far and away and projects as a perennial middle infielder gold glove.

Having talked to some people closer to the team with the sox, what i posted before is what is some insiders mindset of moving people around.

Interesting story here today about the Sox 4 best players this year, and improvements made.. All you want to see is improvement each year. So keep those heads high. Also, Abreu best 1B in the league?!

Rumors are suggesting Kenny Williams did all he could to hijack that fourth pick and get the pitcher from Florida.

These past few drafts indicate to me he has zero decision making when it comes to the draft. Really good that Mr. Jerry finally got him out of the picture when it comes to running the team.

I think Rick Hahn has forgotten more than Kenny Williams will ever know.

Thank sweet baby jeebus of that's true about Kenny not getting his way with the 4th pick. Get him out of here. Doesn't another team want a world series winning GM ruining their things? Someone please take him.

I believe his role with the team now is removed from roster decisions and the draft. Which is a really good thing.

I truly believe his last act was James Shields for Fernando Tatis Jr. and Rick Hahn went to Mr. Jerry and said "Let me run this team or let me go."

Everything they've done since, on paper, has been just about a bulls eye.

Just about a bulls eye, except as time goes on, I wonder if they could have gotten one more prospect for Sale. At least compared to the haul they got for Eaton. Holy crap is that package looking bright.

Lopez today: 7IP, 1 H, 0 R

Jones gives up 4 in the 8th.

Tanking is great and all, but you got to reward an amazing start with a W every once in awhile.

Lopez has had the screws put to him. 8 QS, and a 1-4 record to show for it.

The idea of crediting "wins" to anyone is outdated and completely stupid. Case and point: You blow a "save" in the T9, score a run in B9, buy who "blew save" gets credited with a "win"? Insanity.

Lopez did his part. Whatever occurs after he leaves is off him.

Luis Robert is starting in Kannapolis. Log jam of OF in Winston Salem, but this is a temporary stop regardless.

Lot of Luis's in the organization doing well.. Hope Roberts progresses quickly.. I watched his BP yesterday.. The bat just has another sound. I still can't believe Eloy not in AAA yet. Get him the AB's now. If you follow on CBS Sports, they have a daily minor league report on the Sox team page. I've never been this excited about the future in my life of this team. They are LOADED in the minors from a lot of names none of us talk about. Lot of good trade pieces could be in the future to help us if we need it land a trusty veteran down the line. This is the kind of position you want to be in when contending in the playoffs hopefully in the future.

Adam Engel also hitting 300 since 5/12. This is another great sign for a possible trade piece or role player on this team in the future.. Keep developing.

Rick Hahn is raking today in day three.

Three consecutive picks:

Isaiah Carranza, Round 12. Transferred from Oregon to a D2 school. Nice fastball.

Jason Bilous, Round 13, Coastal Carolina. Needs to work on command. High leverage guy for the bullpen.

Davis Martin, Round 14, Texas Tech. Command faltered down the stretch this year but he's got good stuff.

These are guys who could have gone in the first 6-7 rounds and the Sox are getting them now. Maybe they return to college but we shall see. Sox are known for "fixing" arms.

Great value here.

15th Round from U of Illinois is Luke Schilling. Big kid with a big arm that missed 2018 with an injury. Again, maybe he goes back to school, but who knows what could be in store.
