Reminiscent of former ND OC Diedrick on making adjustments?

Ok coach, so they surprised you on the first play. But what about the rest of the game?

Leak's Fundamentals Lacking Against LSU

Andy Staple TBOSports.com

GAINESVILLE - -- Poor mechanics hurt QB Chris Leak's performance in Florida's 21-17 loss at LSU, Gators offensive coordinator Dan Mullen said Monday.

Mullen said Leak "aimed" many throws rather than throwing naturally during a 107-yard performance. Mullen also said Leak needed to fix his footwork.

"His fundamentals were a little off this week. We sat down and went through it and went through all his drops and footwork," Mullen said. "He knows that's part of cleaning it up for him right now, making sure his feet are exactly balanced. You saw he was hopping around a little in the pocket.

"He just needs to take his exact steps and throw the ball on time, and he'll be all right."

Mullen also said Florida's receivers not named Chad Jackson and Dallas Baker need to find ways to get open.

"We're trying to design some routes to get it to the playmakers, and Chris is looking certain places against certain defenses," Mullen said. "We've just got to try and get different guys open."

LINE UNPREPARED: Florida offensive line coach John Hevesy said he and his line never saw tape last week of the LSU defense against an empty backfield. As a result, the Gators had no idea the Tigers would blitz every time Florida lined up with no backs.

"I wish someone would've shown us something," Hevesy said. "We went into that game without looking at one shot of how they defend empty. That's one of the faux pas, I guess, you get seeing the first snap."

Hevesy said the only way to stop six rushers with five blockers is to use "hot routes," which are short passing routes that allow the quarterback to throw the ball quickly.

GATOR BITES: CBS has picked up the Florida-Georgia game on Oct. 29, and the game will kick off at 3:30 p.m. … Coach Urban Meyer left Monday's practice early to attend an out-of-state speaking engagement

Jesus, that program is on the decline!! Way to go Urban. Left practice early for a speaking engagement? C-Dub would sooner get kicked in the pills by each member of his team before he left practice early.

Everyday is another day in which I thank God that Meyer turned down the job offer, Meyer is a small fish in a big pond and can't handle it. Just imagine if Weis had the sort of talent that Meyer has down in Florida or the supposed talent, because I would say we have pretty dang good talent right now at ND.

there is no doubt in my mind that if meyer was coach now,we would be 2-4 at best.I hate to talk about anyone, but reality is setting in at florida,
and I haven't seen this many alabama fans coming out of the woodwork after the florida win in a long time either.

I'm glad we didn't get Meyer either, but this one disappointing season may be old news if Meyer gets his team back to an elite level in the next few years. But...I get the feeling that Urban's spread offense is going to continue to struggle in the SEC.

One of the Faux pas to not watching tape and studying your opponent is getting your a$$ kicked on the field.
That coach has nobody to blame but himself, Theyve played LSU before so Im sure thery have more than one tape around the football AO of that team.

Recruits are starting to look elsewhere.

Tim Tebow is probably packing his bags for Bama.

Tim Tebow ended up going somewhere else. I can't remember where though. Was it Alabama? To not know what a defense does against a certain offensive set is just tragic. I wouldn't have told anybody that. That's just embarrassing.

Do they just sit down and watch tape or does he actually go out on the practice field and help him improve his mechanics and footwork? You know....does he actually coach him? Chris Leak is from my city (Charlotte). The guy was all-world in high school and he looked great last year under Zook. He just looks lost this year. It's a shame what they've done to that kid.

At this stage of his career he doesn't have his fundamentals down? I can't believe any offensive cord would admit that!

And he wishes someone had shown him the tape before the game? Urb really has them on their toes!

He hasn't commited yet. But stories indicate he is calling wide receivers with Bama offers and telling them to go to Tuscaloosa with him.

This would be a great pickup for Bama if it true. It also would leave Urb without a good QB in this class.
