I was talkin to one of my personal trainers about the game today. He's a huge Michigan fan. I found out he played for Molnar when he was at ISU. He was telling me how Molnar would call players worthless, an also told a player to go kill himself at one point.
Now, I know it's football, it's a mans sport, but everyone has made Kelly as his staff out to be saints. Also, terrail lambert specifically once said the reasOn players hated weis was because of the way he treated players. Now that we know the way Molnar acts, should we be worries that this is weis era part 2?

Any reports of actions like this during his time at Notre Dame?

Worried* and not that I know of.
Look, I'm not tryin to start any kind of b.s. But it just got me thinking that maybe kelly and his staff were the wrong guys for Notre dame, seeing as weis was heavily criticized for treatment of players

I'm not worried about hearsay from one person out of the thousands that Molnar has coached. I'm not saying that it cannot be true. But if it were really that bad, you would think that more former players would be talking about it.

No one has done this.

Besides, "treated" can mean a million different things. I don't like the way dogs are treated when they are beat. On the other hand, there was this lady at the dog park yesterday that was giving her St. Bernard, Titan, all sorts of kisses and talking to it like it was a six month old baby. I really didn't like the way she treated her dog.

I would suggest not taking anything one of your personal trainers, who just happens to be a Michigan fan, says about a Notre Dame coach or player to heart. First if the obvious that it could very well be total BS. Second, maybe he has an ax to grind with Molnar. Did he ride the pine on Molnar's watch when he believed he shouldn't have, etc. Third, I wouldnt say we "know" how anybody acts based solely on what this one person claims. Fourth, nobody has made BK and his staff out to be saints, and even if they were Brian Kelly has made it perfectly clear to his players that they do not get babied. He is hard on them and expects them to perform up to his standards and meet their potential. The changing of the guard from Weis to Kelly was signified by the no-nonsense attitude Kelly brough to the program. Get your lucky room cleaned up, get your body in shape, and come to work ready to bust your tail and give 110% every day whether its on the practice field, in the weight room, in the film room, or in the class room.

I'm not losing a second of sleep over this, and I suggest you shouldn't either.

If we win, its all appropriate. If we lose, its not. personally i don't think Kelly is arrogant like Weis was, he just sets the bar high, probably just like Molnar does...

He was their starting running back at ISU.

6 years ago at possibly the worst football program in the history of college football (OK that is a bit exaggerated, but seriously, ISU has NEVER been good at football. All time record 354–480–23).

I wouldn't blame him if he jumped all over their players. He was probably trying to change the culture and mentality of their players. I think it would be very unwise to extrapolate what one personal trainer told you.

I also seriously doubt he ever told a player to go kill himself. Come on.

Apparently, you wanted to start something.

Why else would you put a "thumbs down" smiley along side Molnar's name in the title of the thread?

WTF do we know? I'm going to take the word of your personal trainer over reporters and the coaching staff? Laughable

Get a grip.

With all due respect to your trainer...that seems a little off based on what I've seen of the guy so far. It'd be one thing if someone transferred and had a tale to tell...and this story corroborated that story. Right now this is one data point that ...well who knows the motivation there.

I'll tell you my experiences related to such things (not Molnar). I have been present when coaches ask players for their gear, and tell them to clean out their locker...firing them so to speak. One was discipline...two were upperclassmen who were previously injured and were just not good football players anymore, and were endangering themselves. In all three cases the guys made crap up about the coaches to make themselves look better...I just never understood it...but it happens...pride thing I guess.

I've been around football off and on for 30 years or more...never ran into a coach who acts like what you are describing...there are yellers, there are guys that can make you feel stupid...but most understand how to motivate people...especially if they are coaching in college. However, I have run into my share of players with wounded feelings...

Not saying your trainer is a player with an axe to grind...just saying my experience is, thats usually the case. Be careful what you take from him w/o understanding what his perception of his own football experience was.

Data is data though...I guess we'll see...

I used to be a Notre Dame fan essentially all by myself. I have one or two friends that are also fans, but I joined this board so I'd have a place to talk ND football with other fans.

Garbage posts like this are the only negative about joining a message board. While talking football and recruiting here is way better than going it alone, I'd rather not know there are "fans" out there that undermine the football program by bringing potentially damaging rumors into the public domain.

Since it has been established countless times that recruits and their families read these boards, why would a "fan" post unverified rumors here that could potentially serve as an obstacle to recruiting. If an incident occurs that is documented and corroborated, we can deal with it then. Until then, this is just the kind of pointless sensationalism that we deride when we see it in the media.

Also, the guy is a Michigan fan that played at Iowa State? How does that happen? You don't check your fan allegiances at the door when you become a member of another program? Just the fact that the guy holds himself out as a Michigan fan that played at ISU makes me think that the guy is a joke. Tell your trainer to worry about his own team. Let him figure out whether that is Michigan or ISU.
