I not sure I really agree with the stimulus, but did you complain when we poured hundreds of billions into Iraq for absolutely nothing? And it still continues. For some people. no matter what, their President or guy is never wrong. Attack one, blindly defend the other. I'm not giving Obama a pass, (he's too new) but have you forgotten how this mess started?

Yes, I do remember. Bill Clinton and sub-prime mortgages. Allowing people who have no ability to pay their mortgages for more than 2 months straight to live in a bigger house than I do (which isn't saying much).

I agree that Bush-y boy was not the sharpest tool in the shed. Agree to disagree on Iraq, though. However, the Obaminator is going to crush that spending in his first 100 days.

We are a part of Obama Nation!

Yeah I do, I actually did reseach, stopped listening to the media and found Bush and Rice warned congress about fannie mae and others posing a serious economic threat within five years and urged that something must be done WAY BACK in 02ish I believe it was.... and John Kerry, the Clintons, Ted Kennedy and nancy pelosi all laughed in his face b/c the economy was booming and this guy must be nuts....

now look where we are??? Yet how many people (Namely those listed above) blame bush for the economy??? this was is not an isolated case...

as far as the TC's point goes??? I am ACAMP1900 and I approve this message

I don't blame Bush for the economy, maybe just partially. What I do find laughable is how the insane deficits attributed to the Bush admin are ignored by the same people who are outraged by the "stimulus." The partisan crap is stupid, can't anybody think for themselves without having their mind made up by Limbaugh or CNN? Oh yeah, I hate politics, I'm swearing them off, online and otherwise. :)

I blame all of the greedy realtors, that had 50-200 ppl working for them, pushing out loans to ppl that make $10/hr. They got their comission, the loan is then sold to a company like Countrywide, and 2 years later that house is owned by the bank. That situation is played out again and again. The realtors, and the ppl that work for them, make their money in the front of the deal, then the loan is sold off to a bank or mortgage company and they are left to deal with the consequences when that loan matures.

If any of you know any realtors, you know over the last 5 years they made more money than they made in the previous 10years before that....Unless a realtor is currently being sued, they are free and clear, with a ton of bank, sitting pretty waiting for economy to come back into shape so they can start it all again.

The middle class is on life support. You either have, or you have not.

PS: Agree to disagree, but Iraq was a grievous error.

Simple fact about Iraq:

Sadam is out of power.
Iraq sent everything to Syria.
My best friend is over there.
I will support him and the war until he is home.

The U.S. accumulated $5 Trillion in debt since the Andrew Jackson Admin. Bush added $5 Trillion in 8 years. Lets give OBama a chance. Something had to be done.

I didnt mind the fact that we went to war with Iraq, but the way it was handled, because we as americans continue to let politicians into war, was stupid. Go in, kick ass, get the cocksucker and his regime out of power, get out.

I never said not to support the troops. Supporting a war based on information about things that do not exist is another animal altogether. There was a reason most of the world was against going there.

Yah if you did that then the country would be in shambles, just ripe for some other kook worse than Saddam to walk in and start fresh. I'm not saying Saddam was a nice guy, but there is always somebody worse waiting in the wings. Then what you have is Afghanistan Part2. Terror training camps all over the place and it now becomes a haven for those people. Not to mention the millions you've displaced in the process who are now even more pissed off at the US then they already are.

All of this could have easily been avoided by not going there in the first place.

Respectfully, I could not disagree with you more. When my wife and I purchased our home about a year ago we sat down and went over our finances and decided that we could comfortably spend "x" amount of money on a new house. It did not matter how much the bank wanted to give us or how big of a house the realtor wanted to sell us. We were responsible for our own spending and if we would have gotten in over our heads we would have had no one to blame but ourselves. There is a major lack of accountibility in our society. No one is ever wrong, its always someone elses fault.
We are in this situation because irresponsible people bought way more house than they could afford and it is now catching up to them. Note: If you are a responsible person who bought a house within reason but have lost your job and house due to the down economy then I feel for you and this does not apply.

I guess I'm somewhere in the middle on this one. Yes, there needs to be accountability. If you make $10.00 and hour, you can't afford a $300,000 home. You should be able to see that...it's common sense. If you can barely afford the interest payments on an adjustable rate mortgage, you're obviously not going to be able to handle the real payments when they kick in a few years down the road.

But, don't the people offering this up have some responsibility here? First, imagine if they didn't have the option to sell the mortgage to another company after the deal was done...do you think they would have been as eager to make the sale; one that they knew was going to fail? I doubt it. (And how stupid are the banks who bought up all these mortgages?...I guess their plan was to make their money on late payment fees) Secondly, I'm certain that many of these realtors used the adjustable rate mortgage as a selling point....."you can just refinance before the full payments kick in...." (But you won't be my problem at that point) This was before everyone knew that your house wasn't going to be worth what you paid for it 3 years ago. Greed, in fact, did lend a big hand in this problem.

Greed and stupidity....what a deadly combination.

I support our troops too. They should be at home playing war games and never have gone to Iraq. Unless they have oil.

Why were they able to find Saddam in a hole, but still can't find the guy they claim is responsible for 9/11?

Wasn't that the point?

I definately agree that the lenders and banks should have accountability for some of this but i look at it like this. If you are a professional athalete and a trainer tells you he has this cool new supplement that is legal and enhances performance and you take it and get in trouble, its your fault. Yes you may have been decieved by the trainer but its your responsibility to know what your getting into. The same is with the lending industry, we were offered way more money than we needed for a house we couldnt afford. In the end it was up to us to make the right decision regardless of how it was presented to us. Its like a drug dealer being held responsible for a crackheads addiction when they chose to buy the drugs. JUST SAY NO BOYS AND GIRLS.:)

I like the analogy, but here's how I see it. In those relationships....druggie/dealer and buyer/realtor. The former are screwing themselves and the latter are screwing everybody. If this issue didn't extend beyond the people involved in their own transaction I wouldn't be as irritated by it. But it does, and the people involved never thought about the consequences of their actions on the rest of the economy.

It was...however, Iraq was not about the War on Terror. In 1999 during the election cycle, Cheney said that a Bush administration would deal with Iraq and remove Saddam. So it was something they had planned long before 9/11.
