Surprised no one has mentioned the potential impact his will have on Alabama vs. Oklahoma. Wasn't Kiffen the last Bama OC to have another job during the title game? That didn't go well IIRC.

Just read that Locksley offered WR coach and co-OC Gattis his OC job. If he were to leave before the playoff as well, they'd have nobody to coach the offense. Interesting development to keep an eye on for sure

I could be wrong, but I thought Locksley was staying through the CFP.
I doubt Nick does what he did to Kiffin (fired LK after the first round game prior to the final).

I think it depends on the relationship. I don't know about his and Saban's, but Saban and Kiffen was more like a couple that gets married after dating for a couple of months without really getting to know each other then then end up divorced after a short marriage.

Locksley is 2-26 as a HC at FBS level and punched one of his assistants at New Mexico lol he only made a second year there because the Athletic department was broke and couldnt afford his payoff if they fired him

Just looked it up, yes you are correct. He's in Maryland currently but will head back to Alabama next week and work double duty. Two checks from two universities? Must be nice.

I didn't know this, but do you know who FAU's Athetlic Director is this year? Brian White, son of THE Kevin White. How crazy is that?

This kind of shit has to drive Saban crazy. Man is a control freak. Bet his blood pressure is up a bit.

He probably has some Florida and Georgia ties from his time at UF. I'd like to see Georgia Tech make some noise

Out of the twenty open coaching spots, just eight - a bit lower than average - were for Power 5 HC spots. Two of those are still open - Georgia Tech and Kansas State. Temple's Geoff Collins is emerging as the leading candidate at GT. Kansas State may not be in a hurry to replace a true legend.

Kansas State coaching search: Seth Littrell, Bret Bielema among candidates to replace Bill Snyder

P5 openings this year
Colorado
Georgia Tech - TBD
Kansas
Kansas State - TBD
Louisville
Maryland
North Carolina
Ohio State
Texas Tech

In retiring from coaching, Turner Gill did 'one of the toughest things' he's ever had to do

Gill oversaw the program’s continued stability and move up to the FBS. He won at least a share of four Big South championships after taking over in 2012, and the Flames went 6-6 as an FBS independent this season. Gill finished 47-35 in seven seasons.

Looks like Hugh Freeze will be replacing Turner as HC at Liberty.
Geoff Collins to Georgia Tech a done deal at this point as well.

Collins is a good hire. Has SEC experience, knows the area, and will install a good D. He's also a bit wacky. Will be interesting to see what they do on the O side of the ball. Wonder who they will get for OC. Should be a GT and Miami battle for the Coastal pretty quick.

Looks like FCS star Chris Kleiman could finally get his chance to come to the FBS. Football Scoop reporting that KSU zeroing in on him as Head Coach

Damnit was really hoping Brent Venables would go home and leave Clemson at the altar!

Came here for witty (or just snarky) Hugh Freeze to Liberty comments.

Seeing them whomp UGA a few times during their down periods was fun as hell also
Hasn't happened in a long time though. UGA figured out the triple option and has won 8 out of the last 10 meetings.

Honestly I hate the triple option and think it's an antiquated high school offense. GaTech was never going to make any noise with it, it had grown stale.

Well I wouldn't call that a whomping, it was a 1 point win and like I said UGA has won 8 of 10.

Not a whomping but a huge upset @GA.
From 2013-2016 (4 games), GT won both at UGA, and the two games at GT were OT games IIRC.

Last year was the first time in 5 years it wasn't very close.

offensively they killed them though - 45 points wasnt it? The GT defense was meh but UGA couldnt stop them on offense

out of the four games, some were high scoring, but another one was 7-14 IIRC.
