I just ordered a sandbag that holds between 80-180lbs of sand. Im going to throw some sandbag training into my workouts. I seem to remember reading that Longo uses hill running in his training program, is there an outline anywhere of what his program consists of? I want to steal some of his ideas.

What are your goals? What are you trying to accomplish?

I don't really have a goal. Im not training for any competitive sports. Ive been into fitness for about 8-9 years, and like changing it up. Ive gone from power/Olympic lifting to more core/endurance to a hybrid of crossfit/olympic/endurance. It gets monotonous training the same way day after day, month after month...etc. I am just trying to have some fun, and take on another challenge. I am sittin at 6'2 195. I want to get down to about 188-190.

I've been debating on ordering a sandbag or a dozen donuts and a 12 pack of Bud Light.

youtube "gym jones workouts"

Some crossfit stuff is good to. go to their WOD (workout of the day) section.

Here are some things I do frequently

pullups and weighted pullups. depending on how many you can do, see if you can do atleast 4 sets of 10 without weight. once you can do that...use a dipbelt and put some weight on it. If you're interested PM me, and ill go into more detail.

Farmers walks.

Weighted planks.

When you do any exercise, try to use your core to balance yourself. I.e. while bench pressing hold your legs out straight. use a spot though, because its very awkward at first.

Awesome man.. Yea I'm pretty solid with the diet thing but for the longest time I stuck with heavy lifting and supplements like N0Exoplode which has creatine in it and kept me bloated.

I just want to have flexibility and strength at this point. I'm gonna hit up some bikram yoga classes too.

Yeah dont let anyone tell you Yoga is for women, its awesome for your physically and mentally.

I just bought some NOX because I like the pump and what the Arginine does to your veins. But, my usual prework out is 20oz of black coffee. Nothing beats it. Best thermo out there. But, i learned the hard way, if you're going to get into the core/endurance workouts...cut the coffee to 12 oz and 45 mins before you workout...otherwise youll be throwing up all over the place.

Coffee is what I've replaced NOX with too and its great.. The creatine just didn't work for me. Right now I'm doing that Insanity workout but I want to get more creative and get out of the house..

ive seen footage of this somewhere, the "Longo Beach" its like a man made sand dune that he makes the players run up, probably just like stadium steps but the sand is easier on the joints.

How is Insanity? I thought about jumping into that.

It's a great workout if you're already in decent shape. A "heavy fellow" at work tried it and it basically did nothing for him because he could only do the moves at a 1/3 of the speed and range needed. But if you are in decent shape it will surely take you to another level.

I just get sick of being in my living room in front of a tv.

Ive actually heard good things about it, I thought it was going to be like a P90x thing, but I was wrong...its helped a few people that I know. I just wouldn't beable to do it in my house, I am too stuck in my ritual of going out to the gym and forgetting about life for 90 mins. It's my escape from reality lol.
