As bad and as inexcusable as Denbrocks drive was after the pick, I think he called it that way because he had absolutely no faith in CJ.

Something we’ll never know, did CJ check into a lot of bad looks tonight, not check when he should have, or have his ability to check taken away from him?

Y’all can thumbs-down it, but give me three legit reasons that Denbrock should currently be employed—even before tonight.
The only actual answer is who could call the plays. Gino? He can’t coach his QB to take a snap under center or slide properly. And the rest are just recruiters and true position coaches. Unless we have some supreme analyst on staff we’re stuck with this doofus for the rest of the season.

If they lose to Miami and get left out of the playoff for a second straight year because they went 0-4 in the 4 games they got challenged in I’m going to lose my fucking mind

ND lost to #8. That was the best loss of all those top 10 losses. Teams like UCLA aren't going to pass all of them and there's no particular reason they should only pass ND. I agree with you in theory but there's no way it's going to happen in reality.

The best loss was Indiana to Ohio State. Same margin, against a superior opponent, IMO.

Everyone has pretty much hit every point.. The one other thing I’d add is I absolutely hated the RB rotation tonight.. no one got on a heater.

Also, CJ lost this game. We can talk about Denbrock but CJ left 17, possibly 21 points off the board with the spike fumble & multiple overthrows.

Normally I’m distraught after a loss like this but I’m just so used to being let down by this fucking program that I’ve just accepted it.

The season rests on Miami.. and SMU will be a tough out as well.

But even if we get into the playoffs I don’t think we have the horses to win it. Look what Bear just did to us & think about how much pain a kid like Chambliss would inflict.

LAX mentioned it.. But our wideouts can’t create separation & Denbrock can’t scheme it so CJ has to be perfect. And he was far from it tonight.
Nolan James was cooking early. I don't understand why ND moved away from running the ball when they were so dominant early on.

He 100% checked into that run with James.

TT took them to the woodshed twice last year and TT fucking sucked. BYU is not good and they will get prison raped in the playoffs. This was a game we clearly lost, the game was on our racquet and fucking CHOKED. A legit powerhouse would have shoved BYU into a locker after that comical fake punt. We got 3 points.
That was last year and the BYU qb was a true freshman. Stupid argument

Mostly upset about the no call and the one second at the end. I'll be more annoyed at the team later but I feel like I got robbed of a good ending no matter which way it went. The sort of thing that makes it hard to really care about this sport.
I also can’t stand the self righteous “we didn’t deserve it anyways” - our guys played terribly but fought for a chance to win and then were robbed of that. It was egregious

- DL cannot rush the passer outside of Traore. Loghan Thomas got cardio in today, good for him. Keeley all being said stepped up. Credit to BYU OL particularly the RT freshman somewhat but for basically nobody to just win once is awful by the DL.

- Linebackers got picked on in zone, especially Bowen. Didn’t make any plays in QB run game. Would need to see closer to make more judgement than that.

- Moore shouldn’t have played. Was legitimately awful. Not fitting boundary runs. Guessing in zone. Just like I said the pitch of this being an elite team is CJ, it’s also having a Top 10 CB. We didn’t see that tonight. I got ridiculed for saying Moore clearing concussion protocol day of game wasn’t great….well. Awesome moment for Sanders to INT a double move throw. I thought Gray met the moment overall too.

- Shuler is unplayable right now. I was wrong to chalk up UNC to one game. Made zero plays in run game. Makes zero plays in pass game. He wasn’t really targeted, but another defender seemingly getting cardio in. JOB and Talich played well all things considered.

- The Ash portion. Not really sure how you weren’t prepared for the kitchen sink. Just not good enough. Ton of two high in the first half? Zero deep targets. Zero. Should have game planned it basically like Navy. Not sure who they prepared for. I really am not gonna sewer the man versus zone stuff. To play zone you gotta have a DL that gets pressure. DL didn’t, you’re not gonna beat anyone good getting zero pressure. You can’t dial up third down pressures when you’re constantly in third and short. The 2H defense was better on late downs because they were better on early downs. Bear also made some legit throws in 1H. Do I think Ash is some genius DC? Not really, but I mean win a rep one time defense in the 1H. And they didn’t. Haven’t given up on this being a very good D till I see Traore, 100% KVA, 100% Moore and Tae. That’s potentially 4 first rounders.

There was also a play and I can’t remember what the distance was (not third down) but BYU had 5(!!!) guys in the box and they threw a pass instead of checking into a run I couldn’t believe it

It did seem like he checked into runs more than a few times where the lb came through unblocked and tackled the rb behind the los.

This team is hard to defend. The whole world has been validated and they can say whatever they want and be right. It’s hard to even watch another game until Miami.

Tonight sucked. At least they were number 1 for thirty minutes.

The way some of you guys are reacting to a top 10 loss on the road is hilarious though. The sky is not falling. They played like shit, and the flukiest spike fumble is literally the difference. Things have to change, especially with the coordinators and how quick they are to implement adjustments. And guess what- Freeman has proven they usually do adjust and regroup once that loss hits. I don’t like that it takes a loss to get the team focused. But I’m not panicking until they have a repeat performance against Miami.

I know Marcus has a guy that follows him with game management strategy, how in the fuck is he so bad with timeouts five years into this??

I wonder if he has a stat for the percentage of time that an NFL prospect QB shits himself trying to clock a ball from under center. It's a bye week. He has lots of time to get home. Make CJ walk / hitch hike and think about that incompetence.

Haven’t read through the whole thread yet, but this was the Miami game all over again.

Rush 4 and play soft zone all night. Just letting Bear Bachmeier, of all people, sit back in the pocket and hit open guys. We FINALLY bring pressure 3rd and goal from the 6 with the middle of the field wide open.

Then on offense, we throw the ball 49 times?! Almost purely straight drop backs when they’re mostly rushing 4 and dropping everyone back. Denbrock criticized PFF for not knowing what play action is, BROTHER YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT PLAY ACTION IS.

Abandoned the run game for the most part and we give Walton 6 carries. Just like giving Love 12 touches at Miami.

I thought we were a dline and oline driven program, why was the game plan the opposite of that?

I will say this, a week off. The coaching staff and team usually show a lot of improvement after a bye week. I hope the coaches take a hard look at this game and adjust

I can’t believe how bad we looked tonight.

Oline completely forgot how to block minus the two drives where Nolan James got going. Way too many missed assignments, especially on the linebackers.

CJ Carr what on earth was that. Absolute worst performance in his career. I was embarrassed.

We looked slow as molasses minus Faison on offense. We couldn’t get separation.

Mike Denbrock- not sure if he knows this but you can have four receivers on the field at the same time. You don’t have to trot out a tight end for every play.

Chris Ash- How in game 7 of the season is it possible to have a defense look that lost and confused so many times as the ball is snapped. If you can’t teach zone properly, then just stick to man.

Worst time to have a D+ performance.

We deserve every ounce of crap talk we get on social media. Marcus and Denbrock need to eat every bit of it.

Edited to add: If we don’t beat Miami and go 10-2, we’re at a worse point than we were after 2016. That seat gets REAL hot for MF.
