It's one or 2 idiots only mick; we're good. Most people are actually positive, which they should be because we're almost there. We can taste it, and it's exciting. I've heard a lot of complaints about the defense, which, quite frankly, needs to raise their game. They played an atrocious second half (first half was pretty good), and that plus the turnovers got us the game...

I mentioned it in a thread yesterday. I will pose an open question to the entire board.

Does anyone out there think that this is the same team that barely beat SDSU in week one?

The answer is a resounding no! This team is improving every single week, and after a 3-9 season, can we ask for anything more? Last year's team would have went to UNC and got hammered. Look how far we have come.

I know that there are Irish fans who say, hey, we are Notre Dame, we should be at the top every year. Well I understand that, but this is not 1970 anymore. It is a different world. It is too competitive this year. We have been down for awhile, but if you can't see the talent level rising in South Bend, then you are just blind.

Charlie said after the game yesterday he could see the pain in his player's eyes, and the pain is there b/c his guys are really starting to get it. This has been said on this board before, but there are stages to building a winning team. Hoping to win, expecting to win, knowing you will win. We expected to win the game yesterday. We are almost there.

Look how far we have come. I think some people forget just how bad we were last year. I remember when the offense had the ball last year I knew something bad was going to happen. Not the case anymore.

With all the strides we have made, if you aren't all in with these guys now, you will never be.

Is this where you expect us to coming running after you telling you how great you are so you won't leave? We are much improved from a 3-9 team. I am sorry, we couldn't beat anyone with 5 turnovers and that is the truth. We out played them the entire game, but what matters is the final.

I think most realistic fans had this game circled as one of ND's possible losses. The only people that should be reallt upset are those kool aid drinkers who thought we were going to go 10-2 or 11-1 lol! We are much improved and will only get better.

Amen brother, amen. Wait, I believe I'm supposed to say "reps".

As I stated after the 1st 3 games of the season: Change is a process. It doesn't happen in an instant. But we are so much further ahead than where I expected us to be. We still might lose 4 games (SC and a bowl, possibly, but hopefully no losses!), but it's the way we are playing that inspires excitement. The key is to keep improving...

Much like Michigan handed us that game, we handed this game to UNC. However, negative nellys aside, grow some skin and listen to valid points being brought up.

"That team today expected to win," Weis said. "They didn't come here hoping to win, they expected to win. And they didn't. Give credit to North Carolina. And I'm not saying that to be disrespectful. But that team in that locker room today, it's the first time in a long time that I've looked into their faces against a good opponent and there's a team that really feels bad. And the reason they feel really bad is because they're starting to get it."

That quote by Charlie Weis speaks volumes about this team. It's more difficult to teach a losing team how to win than it is to have a winning team learn to lose. The fact that the boys thought they were going to win says A LOT about them and the job CW & Co. have done. Okay, we lost. We shouldn't have lost but we did. We're going to destroy the competition from here until USC and because of yesterday I think we can play with USC. Sure, NC is no USC, but ND was better than NC yesterday. ND is going to keep getting better and by the time USC rolls around we're going to be tougher, better, scarier.

I feel bad after a loss like I always do, but yesterday was worse because being at a bar with a bunch of obnoxious SC fans, was especially painful.

I am going with you Mick2! Where should we go? I am thinking tropical. Maybe Costa Rica. Whaddya think?

We have improved dramatically from last year. And like alot have said we did in fact give NC this game with the Turnovers. We have alot of football to play still and I can't wait to see how much we will have improved by the end of the season in our bowl win we'll get this year.

I'm not running away and hiding from anyone, it was just a tough one and I don't feel like looking at all the negative posts, furthermore I will not be listening to any sports radio for the next two weeks. Just need to recharge the batteries so I'll be back in time for udub.

Ps. Phork benching clausen is not a valid point.

That was a short hiatus!

Anyways, like Phork said, it was a post in jest. You can't really comment on something you don't read.

See you in two weeks (or later today?); we're going to roll UW, payback for Ty...

I'm trying to figure this one out myself...

I do not think BC is that good either but to say we are going to "destroy everyone until USC" is a total JOKE! BC, Pitt, and Navy are not that good but neither is ND. We do not play good we could lose any of those games!!! All three are the type of games that if we play great we could win by 20+ but if we play like we did against NC or MSU we could lose! I think we get 2 out of 3...I would like to get 3 out of 3 but I just do not see it!

I do not see us destroying Pitt, BC or Navy!!!! I think we lose one of those 3 games to finish 8-4!

Navy is not athletic enough to hang with us this year. Last year they took advantage of our inexperience; that won't happen this year.

We have two losses to Top 25 teams. Pitt has lost to Bowling Green! They own wins over such vaunted programs as Buffalo, Syracuse and Iowa!! Their lone decent win came over South Florida. I'm not exactly impressed.

BC has beaten Kent State, Rhode Island (real tough game), Central Florida and NC State. Come on guys....that's a shit schedule.

Like I said....we're going to fucking roll until USC.

You're not looking hard enough than. See the above post to understand why you're overestimating the hell out of BC, Navy and Pitt.

I left out Navy so lets look at them a bit more. They beat Towson State (wow), Rutgers (who suck again), Wake (decent) and Air Force. They lost to Duke (ouch) and Ball State who is, IMO, probably not that good. Again, I'm not impressed.

Sorry I still don't see where BC has been challenged this yet this year to make a judgment that BC is a "tough" team. Navy? ND is way better this year than last year and Navy barely beat ND last year. Pitt is the strongest of the three yet we have them at home. They are the only team if any we lose to out of the three IMO.

I am not saying they are that good...I am saying we are at the same level they are right now! Who have we beat? San Diego State (horrible), Michigan (lost to Toledo), Purdue (beat N.Colorado and Cent Mich), and Standford (decent). We are GREATLY improved but no were close to the point were we can assume "F$%king Rolling" over anyone!!!!!
