She'd post the most of the wall heart and kitty stuff just randomly... it was very odd there for a while... the mods didn't know quite how to handle it because she was cordial and such otherwise...
all kinds of theories went around that it was a reg. user playing games... no one ever found out more other than the IP did in fact come from the middle east. Then, after a few months or so, she just left… lol
Arabia was banned.
There is a List of Banned Users (at least used to be) that is accessible only to the mods/administrators. Arabia was there.
Some of those banned had no reason for the ban in the comments section. Some had a simple one or two word entry for the ban. Others had some very exquisite commentary explaining the reason for their launching.
There was one prolific troll in the early days that posted under a string of names out of Greek Mythology, such as Clotho and Erato among other names. Apparently a high school student that got a 1599 SAT score but got beat out for valedictorian so came here frequently to tell us how stupid we all were about everything and anything to show his superior intellect. I've often wondered if he grew
There have been scripture quoting trolls attacking the papist spawn of Satan, lefty and righty propaganda zealots, ignorant mud slinging sports "fans", some posing as ND fans, and even a few who made hilarious posts during the day but resorted to racist remarks and gay bashing in the wee hours when most members were off line. One would end his posts witha caveat granting the mods "permission" to delete anything THEY found offensive and blaming the rants on the late hour, lost love, booze, depression, pain, or some other theme from a country western song.
Most all of them got PMs from multiple mods, were counseled, cajoled, warned, and then got 24 hours in the penalty box, then 48 hours, a week, a month, a season, and eventually a permanent ban for those that didn't want to play nice. Some got there quicker.
Sometimes somebody got hit inadvertently like the second guy that pushed on the field and was seen by the ref when the other got away. That would generally be corrected but it took an Administrator not a mod to handle an appeal to overturn a time out. If the administrator was out of town, it had to wait as no mod could remedy the situation even when an obvious error was made.
In the early days there were no rules or guidance for the mods. Each was on his own and judgement varied considerably. The original owner didn't want to ban anybody as he was trying to build a website and wanted board hits to drive advertisers.
A soccer card system, Yellow and then Red, was implemented for infractions. Later a point system was installed for various infraction similar to DMV. I don't know what method is being used today.
The mods work hard to keep the board readable.
