So will all the SC fans shut up with the Heisman talk now?

If Booty plays with a broken finger, it certainly can't help his high throws. Those ints weren't even close. He was only beat out by Romo last night with his 5 pics and a lost fumble.

Matt Sanchez starting is a bad thing for ND. I would be surprised if he doesn't play better than Booty. His character is pretty questionable, but he was the best QB prospect in the past 10 years not named Jimmy Clausen.

Move that Booty over. The Pete has spoken and the word is Sanchez. Yes, shortly after wrapping Thursday's practice, Pete Carroll confirmed what had long been expected. Mark Sanchez will make his first career start this Saturday against the Arizona Wildcats, while Booty recovers from a broken finger on his throwing hand.

As reported on SI.com:

"We're counting on him to play a heck of a game," Carroll said of Sanchez, a 6-foot-3, 225-pound redshirt sophomore. "He had a great week. He's been around this offense for years. I know how excited he is -- I've got to calm him down...He's ready for this. He's waited for this. He's been in games."

Sanchez says:

"I'm excited about the opportunity," Sanchez said. "I'm approaching it the same way I have all week, with focus and preparation. The coaches have prepared me well for this."

A redshirt sophomore that's "been around this program for years."

Go get 'em, 'Dirty' Sanchez.

How is this bad news? On one hand some people are calling for clausens head and on the other some are saying a guy who's never started a game is bad news.

Thompson-Surefire or whatever UCLA's qb was called was the "best prospect from SF since Dan Fouts." Talent does not mean as much as experience, game experience. I can't wait to fluster and blitz the hell out of Sanchez. I wish we were playing USC tomorrow.

Is Mitch lost in translation? Why would a great QB go there an sit when he could have picked any other D1 school except ND and started next year?

I think this is just the excuse, ( er...reason), that Petey was waiting for to get Booty out, & Sanchez in............especially since even he now realizes that his chances for a Heisman are over.
