And now they're saying no one has been arrested?

When the bombing happened I was talking to my professor and she said something about being thorough on fact checking. Maybe reporters covering this should've been listening in.

Another media fail. Incredible.

Is there any other kind?

I want to know when journalism and freedom of press changed from being diligent and reporting the facts to saying whatever you want regardless of it being truth. All the matters nowadays is "First!"....."But you were wrong...?"....."Doesn't matter, I was first."

I'm not a journo, nor did I major in it but my opinion has always been that Freedom of the Press meant they could report on any subject matter w/o punishment, etc. It didn't matter what the topic was, they could investigate and present the facts in story form for all to read in the daily paper. I want to know when Freedom of the Press became a scapegoat for bloggers, reporters, journos, writers, etc to jump the gun on a story even if what they're reporting is entirely false and misleading. I truly think the government should start cracking down and fining these people/reporters/etc and try to put a stop to this garbage.

Sorry for the rant. I'm just so tired of all the misleading and false information that's come out over this horrible incident.

Some photos of possible suspects.

I have an issue with at least one of those pictures:

puvQAoAh.jpg

The guy is crouching in a doorway with what looks like a backpack, but if you look to the right you can see the glass is blown out of the storefront window , so it would appear this would be a post-explosion picture, unless the possible suspect just happens to be hanging out right there a few feet from where the bomb went off without anyone noticing and apparently unhurt. Just my observation.

I'd rather wait for the truth. Seriously, what's wrong with the following:

"An explosion has happened at the finish line of the Boston marathon. As we gather the facts and details, we'll keep you informed." END

Instead, we get people that will make that opening statement and then start speculating and spreading rumors and this guy said this, and my source said that...bla bla bla.

You don't have to wait until the 6pm news. But we should all be willing to wait until the actual truth is found out. Instead, we feed off of the drama and speculation.

If this is legit....doesn't look like a "right wing" wacko to me.

LOL, What is a "right wing wacko" supposed to look like exactly?

My point is, we shouldn't assume anything yet at this point. Obviously the media can't get it right, and they have (supposedly) good sources within law enforcement. Hopefully an arrest is made soon and we can begin the process of imparting justice for this terrible crime.

This is in reference to Chris Matthews and that disgusting piece that Sirota wrote on Salon.com yesterday about "Hoping it's a white guy".

Disgusting that it's become political.

Gotcha.

I try my best not to watch MSNBC or Fox News if I want to hear about any impartial reporting.

People want it to be a white guy because it won't lead to more racism. The "Saudi national" was already a victim of racism and if there's another terrorist attack done by an Arab person it will probably get ugly with racism.

However no matter who it is, the politics will get ugly from either side, whether it's a Tea Party guy protesting taxes or someone from Egypt trying to protest our involvement with Israel or whatever.

What "people"?

And how is a Tea Party guy protesting taxes "ugly"??

Not to get political, but that piece by Sirota was terrible and anyone that buys into what he was saying is a racist. What a jacka$$ that guy is for even brining that up at a time like this. And anyone that agrees with him is also, a jacka$$. No matter who, or what color, the guilty party is an enemy of AMERICA.

I dont know a single person who wants it to be a white guy....I personally hope who ever is the ****er that did this is not an American. Its terrible enough of an act, let alone committed by your own people.

Salon.com is full of no talent hack bloggers. While I look to the web for much of my news...it's full of idiots. Sirota and his self-hating, is one of them.

Good point. I would rather it be someone from another country than have to know that our own people are bombing each other.

Just sad.

I also hear that the Westboro folks are going to protest at the funerals of those killed???

Why can't a bomber target that "church"? Those people are disgusting

While I agree they are disgusting, bombing their "church" is equally if not more disgusting.

The thing is that the last time an Islamic fundamentalist attacked America we ended up in the longest war in our country's history that was a financial disaster. If it's a white American there is literally 0 percent chance of that happening. No one thought about going to war over Timothy McVeigh. White people won't suffer any racism because the bomber was white, but Arabs will if the bomber is Muslim.

McVeigh didn't start a war because he wasn't part of a larger terrorism network. Had nothing to do with his race.

Consider: if it turns out that a Swedish terror network perpetrated this crime, is actively targeting U.S. civilians, and the Swedish gov't was harboring them, then we would surely bomb the crap out of Stockholm. Believe it or not, their being white wouldn't stop anything.
