Mods please step in and clean it up and not add to the arguements.... Focus on the victims and facts take the bickering to PM.

Alright. I'll be a big boy and clean up my own mess.

Pat, please keep providing any info you can, and as before, prayers to all who may have been affected by all of this.

It's weird. I get more pissed when I hear about people losing limbs than when I hear about deaths. (Obviously deaths are terrible, but there's just something about the limb-loss for me personally)

To be about my age and sustain an injury that will effect every part of my life in a negative way over a nut job political statement... Just makes me so angry.

I agree. That got outta hand...my bad.

EDIT: Hey Pat, I edited this post in hopes of preventing some sort of rebuttal, but tried to keep your main message. Hope you understand. - Beau

You make a point. But I think of the families of the victims that died (like the 8 year old girl)....I couldn't imagine

Of course. I have more heated arguments with family members. The Irishpat house should have it's own reality show.

I should like to get hammered drunk and join in on that fun.

Any runners on here? I'd like to take it back up...maybe get into half marathons and that sorta thing.

It's one thing for people who are 65-70 and lose a foot from diabetes because they were negligent of their own health. It's another for someone who most likely spent months training for and just completed a marathon. I couldn't imagine life changing that much in one moment.

Boy or girl...terrible. I just read the Boston Globe piece. It was a little boy.

It was a 9 year old girl that was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. Let's hope she pulls through

Lets hope it's the guy and it leads to taking down whoever else was involved.

Cnn now reporting 3 dead and 141 injured.
Happy the death toll is that low.
Hopefully through the night it doesn't rise.

My perspective likely comes from being a unmarried 23 year old male. It's hard for me to conceptualize having a kid or a family that I care about as much as myself right now. (Other than my immediate family, but I'm sure it's... different.) I just think of the young looking guy who lost a leg and I identify with him. Was he an athlete? What were his hobbies? Assuming his friends do those same hobbies, will they stick with him? or only stay for the short term? Does he have a girlfriend? Fiance? Wife? What will that be like? How could he not feel guilty about that for her?

I guess what I'm saying is that though I would much rather live in the long run, the short term uncertainty of my life that such a cruel injury brings would terrify me. I imagine how he feels, and I just get incredibly mad on his behalf.

I'm interested to see how differently this plays out in the media if it's foreign or domestic....

Great post. Events like this often make you face thoughts like this.

Not to mention people who suffer from these types of injuries often fall into a state of depression which negatively impacts their lives.

I've also heard stories of people rushing to donate blood immediately after running a marathon. Also, in some of the video, you can see plenty of people running towards the explosion scenes to help. If you really think about that and let it sink in, these people had no idea what was going on or if the explosions were over or if the scene was secure and put themselves in danger to go help others. Truly incredible and inspirational.
