In the world of eight game playoff football, the FCS has narrowed its championship game down to #2 James Madison Dukes vs #1 North Dakota State Bisons.

FCS Semifinals: NDSU Reminded Us Of The Machine It Is

No. 2 James Madison holds down No. 3 Weber State in FCS semifinal win

James Madison won the NC in 2004 and again in January 2017. They then went 14-0, reaching their second consecutive NC before losing before losing a close game to emerging rival North Dakota State, 17-13. The Dukes nickname was nambed after the University's president from 1919-1949, Samuel Page Duke.

The ND State Bison have won seven NCs since they joined the FCS in 2004. BTW, if you are ever in the area, Jamestown, ND has the World's Largest Buffalo Monument and the National Buffalo Museum. For many years, it was customary for members of the graduating class of Jamestown High School to paint the genitalia in the school colors of blue and white.

The game will be played on Jan 11 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, TX (suburb of Dallas)

There was a time I really thought he'd be the next HC here but he botched his USF gig.

I will watch these games with one purpose in mind---to see the sec get beat as many times as possible---I thought it was a bit overrated this particular year.

I think you could make that case for most conferences. They have a top team and then there is a huge drop off after that.

Can someone tell me why OU continues to get a pass for their no shows but we don’t?

That is ugly. LSU QB is throwing balls on the money. Sooners cant be that bad but they are looking like it right now. There have been some scary LSU teams in the past but one with a good QB is especially scary. They have always had athletes. A couple years ago people wrote them off too. Living in the Bama shadow they would not be relevant again.

Paul Finebaum better be all over ESPN talking about OU being banned from the Playoff for the next four years. 49 points in the first half!? What a joke.

Well they don't shit the bed on the national stage EVERY time. Won @OSU, had a double OT game against UGA in the semifinal, beat Auburn in the Sugar Bowl, all in recent years. We can't quite say the same, yet.

We didn’t shit the bed in 2017 or 2019 against Georgia. Seems pretty equal to me. They deserve the same BS treatment we get or it needs to stop altogether.

name a recent win even remotely close to those two. at some point we have to win something or we won't get respect.

USC and NC St in 17. Michigan in 18. Michigan was a top 5 team when they faced OSU last year.

NC St was 9-4. USC and Michigan good wins, both at home.

OU beat a 12-2 OSU at the shoe, and has a big recent postseason win.

My point is not to belittle ND, or to act like OU is head and shoulders above us. Simply answering your original question. But at the same time I think you'll find that OU is NOT getting a pass this time.

Fair and I think your argument is valid about their previous showings being better than ours. I sure as hell hope they get the treatment we’ve been getting.

Does ND finish in the Top 10 for 2019?

At # 15 with the following guaranteed:

Georgia / Baylor loser finishes below ND (well, no guarantee with UGA but I think the Bulldogs destroy Baylor);
Alabama / Michigan loser finishes below ND; and
Oregon / Wisconsin loser finishes below ND.

So that's a 12th spot at worst.

ND needs 2 of:
Utah lose to TX (that could happen);
Florida lose to UVA (magic eightball says appears doubtful);
Auburn lose to Minnesota (Auburn favored by 7.5 pts); or
Voters Hate on Oklahoma and drop them out of the top 10

Other wild cards:
Ugly, ugly Alabama / Michigan game with two unmotivated teams pushing ND over both teams;
Ugly, ugly Auburn win which doesn't inspire any top 10 votes for the Tigers; or
ND has made a positive impression with voters (Ha....not likely in this world. This only happens when ND is undefeated and can't be ignored)

There won’t be a final CFP ranking. The AP and Coaches have us at 14. It’s not out of the realm of possibility for us to move up 4 spots. We’ll see.

Why are there meaningless bowls scheduled AFTER January 1st? This is the dumbest thing about the new bowl schedule with the CFP. I like that we have a playoff now and hope it goes to 8 teams soon, but why schedule games like Indiana-Tennessee, Ohio-Nevada or Southern Mississippi-Tulane after January 1st. The bowl games should culminate with the typical NY6 and the CFP with the championship one week later not two weeks later.
