First of all, I hate Boston College more then any other team in FBS football.

I am a member on the ESPN board, and these clowns keep coming over and saying how they are going to crush us? I just do not get it. BC is not a team I fear, I know they have had a amazing run a mediocrity while ND has been at her worst, but comeon... Pitt, Utah, and SC scare me the most. I am not worried about BC at all.

Am I overlooking them?

Boston College is actually a solid football team. They win eight or nine games a year.

I don't really care about them. I don't like them at all, but I hate USC, Michigan, etc. much more. They can hate us all they want, but as far as football goes, they'll never even be close to what Notre Dame is.

With the history between our schools.

With the history between our schools.

Is this a real question ? Hell, yes BC scares the crap out of me.

The BC fans have facts on their side when they talk trash about ND. Let's face it, they have dominated ND since Holtz left.

We will regain the upper hand through Kelly's management. Until then, we have to grin and bear it. Kelly will maximize our talent like BC has maximized theirs.

BC will get theirs. I hate Michigan more than anyone else. To me, Michigan will be the sweetest win in 2010

Exactly.

Listen, name a decent to good school that we play who DOESN'T have a fanbase that thinks they'll kick the shit out of us this year...every year. Doesn't matter if it's a pipe dream or if they will be favored against us, they think they'll win. Remember last year and the Nevada game...they really thought they were going to beat us...and MANY 'experts' had Nevada as their 'upset' special (Mark May, shockingly, was one of them). And we had to hear it all summer. ND fans, in turn, said we were going to pummel Navy, as we said with Syracuse 2 years ago, etc etc etc.

Bottom line...fans are crazy. Put a computer between them and reality...they become absolutely insane.

You do know it's the same guy with multiple screen names answer his own threads. He's been caught plenty times answering question in the wrong screen name..

Boston College is actually a solid team. Most of their starters are back, and Mark Herzlich returns after winning his fight against bone cancer. For the most part, I think it's going to be a great game.....with an Irish victory of course.

BC has a solid lucky streak against us. I hate to lose to Backup College almost as much as I hate to lose to Purdue.

Boston College owes a lot for its program to ND. As do the Miami Hurricanes, as does USC. Particularly BC and Miami. We started playing these teams when they were not very good for the exposure in their respective regions. They received a lot of media exposure they might not have gotten otherwise.

Frank Leahy actually won them a title before he came here.

As much as I hate BC for 1993, there's no way I can hate them as much as Michigan, USC, or even teams we don't play like Florida. They do things the right way, they have blue-collar players, they don't have 30 players getting arrested year after year, get put on probation, etc. It's hard to root against Herzlich as well. They share a lot of similarities with us, but I despise the fact that Lou didn't get that second national title because of them

The thing is Boston College has caught us in ND down years beside the 1993 game.

There is some truth to that for sure. We would have kicked the living snot out of them in 2005 and 2006. But we didn't play BC those years.

Another thing is, besides 1994's debacle of a loss, BC never beats us by more than a little bit. Even our 17-0 loss there in 2008, we severely outgained them and could have easily won if we didn't shoot ourselves in the foot so many times.

We have roughed them up a handful of times, like we should, because we have more talent.

With that said, yes this games scares me.

We've lost our last three in Chestnut Hill.

We're 2-4 overall there.

And we haven't won there since 1998.

Their defense will be good to possibly very good. I think they'll have an okay offense, but nothing explosive. We shut down Harris last year on the ground which was a great effort, now we just have to make sure we don't make Shinskie look like Tom Brady again.

I'm very much looking forward to this game, and I'm sure Brian Kelly as a Massachussets born guy, is too. Maybe BC won't even be ranked, maybe they'll suck big time this year, but they continue to overachieve and I'm betting they'll be very solid in 2010.

Picking up a victory in Chestnut Hill will be a huge step forward for the Notre Dame program.

We have to respect BC as we do Navy. They've both had our # as of late which is unacceptable and its our BK's job to fix that. We're pretty much their superbowl every year and we've been guilty at looking past them to the next opponent on the schedule. No more! Believe in BK, I do.

Go Irish!

Has it been that long? Semantics, I guess, but wasn't the Mike Cloud goalline stop in 2000?

Herzlich may be good people, but BC still blows. Glenn Foley will always be a jackrag to me. Win with class, asshat.
