Yes, I know you are all mad as well as I am, but just because we're mad that doesn't mean we can say anything we want. Keep the bashing to a minimum that's backed up with legit reasons, and some of you really need to tone down your language.
One more thing, we don't need a ton of threads about the same gripes, let's keep the board clean.

Let's all try to keep this in mind. Just because it's a new day that doesn't mean this no longer applies, especially those of you that weren't on last night. I thought we did a pretty good job of keeping things under control last night so let's no ruin it with lunacy today.

how do you know who these people are? have they told you this? i thought there were rules against them doing that kind of thing, and even if they did, y would they reveal themselves to us?

Current prospects and their families have identified themselves to us, which we verify through IP location. There are several reasons for them letting the staff know who they are including voicing concerns about what is being said, confirming or debunking a rumor regarding themselves or their child, or simply just to say hi.

Also, I'm friends with a a few players on the team, especially the younger classes and they were all aware of what was being said about them before, during, and after their recruitment. Don't tell me you wouldn't be curious as to what people had to say about you, especially the fan base of the school you are considering.

Also, I know Robert Blanton's step father was an active participant on one of the premium boards letting everyone in on RJ's recruitment process. Hard to believe or not, it happens regularly.

Let me make this as clear as I can. NO ONE is saying you CAN'T criticize. Do whatever you want. I criticize too. I just get fed up with the people who criticize so much it just turns into pissing and moaning because they are personally upset that the team isn't winning. There are some people that no matter what is posted, they HAVE to respond with some kind of criticism, skepticism, doubt or concern. I guess I'm different. I hear enough criticism of the ND football team everyday that I don't feel the need to add to it.

If some people are so hell bent on the players/coaches accepting criticism, they should start by accepting criticism themselves. Look at the responses of critical people when they have been criticized by others for their constant criticism of the team. Now try to imagine you are the players being criticized. Would you feel respected and supported?

Preface: this is not directed at you GG, it is just an opportunity to throw this out there after the "reminder" has been brought up for the umpteenth million time.

I still don't see the problem in people posting well-founded criticism of the team/coaches/players as long as their premise(s) is(are) well supported by fact. Of course people who come on here with personal attacks on 18-23 yr-old kids who they don't know from Adam should be booted (and referred to a good shrink as well,) but that doesn't mean this team is exempt from criticism. If the criticism bothers you so much, then stand up to it and dispute it, telling the person why you believe their assertions are wrong - don't start recruiting people for thought police to "crush the infidels," or some such BS.

If someone is critical of this team (as many should be) in a measured and respectful manner and you can't handle it, then maybe you shouldn't be reading msg boards about ND football this year.

Your reaction kinda proves the point though Timugen. You come off as defensive, and then insinuate that if other people don't like it, they should leave. As for disputing the criticizers, most of the time, they are preaching to the choir. Everyone KNOWS CW hasn't done a stellar job this year. Everybody knows that we suck. We are 1-9. Must we talk about it in every thread?

I agree with you though, that we should be looking for places to improve, and analyzing what exactly is going wrong. But perhaps it is asking too much if such ideas were kept in threads about that very topic? It's tiresome to have any thread about another topic (say recruiting, or anything really) not be able to even get a whole page in before someone mouths off about how CW sucks and should be fired, and how anyone bringing up any other problems is "defending" CW and "making excuses," especially when they are usually completely wrong.

A recent post in another thread comparing Illinois to ND comes to mind, John mentioned that Illinois had a few JC transfers, just as a sidenote to recruiting rankings, and was immediately slammed for "making excuses" for Weis. Perhaps you could join me in thinking WTH????

I think all your threads are worthwhile and perhaps even beneficial, Timugen, but the constant negativity in all topics can be wearying. Well, I guess there's always stoney's threads

Look...I don't jump into "all" topics and pump in the "negativity," so please (if you were trying to) don't blame the general discontent of many fans solely on me.

As for the more general point of "negativity" popping up in almost every thread....well, have you seen this team? I'm seriously not trying to be "negative" or take a cheap shot here, but when a team performs this horribly it is to be expected, especially when you toss in the ingredient of people chiming in with pipe-dreams of it magically turning around to a 10-win season next year.

Keep in mind, I'm not defending everyone who comes on here and blindly slams [NAME REDACTED] and/or the team, as I think many who do so are absolutely ignorant in their arguments, but you need to realize that when a team performs as we have (not just poorly, but absolutely historic in atrociousness) then one needs to expect <del>some</del> a lot of "negativity."
