It's cracking me up that every time someone posts a sarcastic, "he gone" the entire board implodes.

Martin has more than enough moxy to handle this job. I believe in continuity right now and keeping dreamy eyes Diaco and Billy Bad Azz Alford.

We make fun of other schools for playing FCS teams, but Grand Valley State isn't even at that level, so I don't think his record at the Division II level counts for much. Besides, Brian Kelly built that program to the top and Martin just had to keep it there. This ND team is still quite a ways from a championship, and Martin hasn't proven that he can do it.

I love Martin as an assistant coach, but we need to look for more accomplished coaches IF Kelly leaves.

Me too tko. All about continuity with the way things have been trending. This staff figured it out, so the last thing we should want is a whole new regime brought in.

and lose Alford and Diaco, no thanks. cleaning house this year is simply not an option imhmfo.

lol we were in the game this year. This is a championship caliber program right now. It just needs to continue to do what it is doing (developing talent). So long as Martin can continue recruiting (which is what his hire would do-- hold together the staff and recruiting class) Martin would be the best candidate currently on the staff.

Though he would not be my first choice if Kelly did leave.

Maybe like some of the recruits he just can't take the pressure for us (the fanbase) and all the negative comment thru social media. Maybe thats why he decommited as a coach and chose somewhere else

I also love the "I know a guy who knows a guy who said that BK is signing a 100 year extension as we speak/the Eagles only want BK and the rest of the interviews are just smokescreens." This is of course followed by the inevitable "a source close to Bob Stoop's/Jon Gruden's parakeet said that as soon as the ND opening happens they are taking an un-chartered flight to South Bend within 10 minutes to be announced as the savior of Notre Dame."

I know Jon Gruden personally and he told me that he's already looking at houses in South Bend. Hopefully, he wasn't lying.

I heard Kelly is just ironing out the details to coach both the Eagles and ND next year.

If Kelly comes back, he should go on the IE front page as an 8-star commit.

As opposed to ND? You realize that just 5 days ago we played in the National Championship Game correct? We still have holes to fill but we're not that far off. Perhaps Chuck Martin could never build a program from scratch but he won't have to with Notre Dame. We have a solid class coming in and we have some returning pieces. We need continuity. It's too late in the process to blow it up and start over. If this was 2 months ago that's one thing but it's mid-January.

This is pointless though anyway because no one knows what will happen. We're arguing over nothing here. This is all a phantom. Sometimes people are crazy.

Glad this looks over. Don't feel confident this won't happen again next year or the year after but for now we have our coach!
