Thanks Ironman.

And I share your sentiments. It is bad timing no matter what, even if, with every shred of his existence, he is NOT going to the NFL this year. Just bad all around.

IMO, he should be willing to sacrifice pleasing an NFL team and just going to the interview FOR the sake of the sanity and well-being of the 20-some odd young men that are recruited to Notre Dame. And he should definitely be willing to sacrifice a NEGOTIATING PLOY for the well-being of those young men.

For fvck's sake. I hope ND is not recruiting kids that are so fragile that their head coach simply interviewing for another job is going to jeopardize their well-being?

You people need to calm down. There's any number of reasons why Kelly might have agreed to an interview, and not all of them include him leaving ND.

And just to be clear about this, #NotreDame fans: If you think Urban Meyer would leave Ohio State for ND now, seek professional help.

Kelly is making less than his relative market value, successfully coaching at a school that can afford a lot more. I expect this to end with a nice, pricy contract extension from ND. It looks bad now, but within a week, we very well could have him secured for a very long time.

Why not??? The man just delivered one of the best Notre Dame football seasons in the last 2 decades! I hope he is enjoying his time off and will be looking forward to all of this blowing over by the time he even gets a chance to tell his side of the story.

ill bet any amount of money that nick saban is not on vacation right now...

Does an interview with the Eagles help him with a new ND contract? Especially after the NC game that was negative? I personally had rather have him at ND than Philly. I am a hard core fan of both. Do you think hard core Philly fan wants a coach that got beat soundly in a championship game? I don't. Not downing BK but Philly fans want a bigger name I think. JMO

And that is probably his end game, but he needs to do some damage control with the kids in the interim.

Which he was getting. RT @SIPeteThamel: A Notre Dame source tells me that expected result of Kelly's NFL flirtation is raise and extension.

I'm truly shocked by this. He says "leaving ND is not an option", then gets whipped in the NCG, and interviews directly afterwards?

Maybe I'm overreacting when I say this... but I think this is a completely classless move by BK, even if it's just a negotiating ploy. Wow.

Classless that he is trying land a large contract or move up in competition?

You sound very butthurt about this.

I'm not happy at the prospect of him leaving, but will i talk **** if he does? Nope...

It's a lot harder to be the HC at ND than Bama. Give the guy a friggin break.

He can take a break once the current class is home, not interview with the Eagles after a NCG game and having EEs this week.

Kelly leaving would be awful, so damaging to the program, but it's definitely good to know that a lot of recruits commit to ND as a school first.
