The first round of the tourney will be played on Tuesday and ND has a first round bye. They will be playing the winner of the Seton Hall vs. Providence game on Wednesday. The winner of the ND vs. Seton Hall/Prov game will play Pitt on Thursday.

The WVU win over Nova was huge today, as ND should be confident if they can get by Seton Hall and play the 2 seed Pitt.

The worst case scenario would be if ND played their way into an 8 or 9 seed.

Agree somewhat. Lunardi has them as a 9 right now with a potential second round game against Kentucky. Would almost be better to be a 10 or 11 seed and draw a team like Purdue, New Mexico, or Vandy in the 2nd round, but I would still hold out some hope against a team like Duke or Kentucky. I think ND's slow pace lets them stay in the game with anyone, and if they are shooting well, look out.

I agree that ND would have a very legitimate shot against Duke. This Duke team has struggled with horrendous shooting woes at times. Duke could possibly make a Final Four run, but its certainly not inconceivable that they be a second round upset victim.

Kentucky could as well. They are obviously extremely young and have games where they flat out cannot shoot at all.

I know I have been wrong alot about Notre Dame basketball and everything but lets be realistic people......Notre Dame could NOT beat Duke or Kentucky even on their bad days. If we end up playing Duke or Kentucky in the second round its all over. Hell we couldnt even beat a Winthrop team in the first round and we had a damn good team then.

Wait. Why does typing that a female team spanked a female team turn me on? I am going straight to hell...

Of course it is a bummer that they lost but I can't believe that they held UConn to under 60 pts and only 25 at half. I know it doesn't really mean anything!!!

i didnt realize your defeatist perspective included basketball

anyhow...we do have a chance. our defense has improved to the point where we can squeeze out wins against higher ranked teams when we shoot 40-50% form 3 point range. teams like duke are possible wins. they're not as athletic as a kentucky-ish team. if either part of that combo fails then the game won't be close.

i didnt think we would even split our last four games, much less sweep them. would you change your tune if we made it to the BE champ game?

I tend to agree, however they have a better shot I think at beating a team like Kentucky. If they can stop Wall, they have a shot. Duke is less focused on 1 player, and has a 3 player attack, the big 3 if you will. Plus Duke is playing its best ball of the year at the right time of the year. Kentucky can be beat
