I liked him on Special Teams. Kid was the fastest kid in NJ as a senior. I think he'll be solid.

That is the type of speed we need in the secondary! He will still be a force on returns, but can help a lot this spring at DB...im very excited about this move

That was a quick plan B, if this is a result of the decommitment. Love feeling that BK has everything covered.

Excited about this move. Bennett showed some nice tackling ability on special teams last year.

I don't think it was Plan B. ND needs a CB that can play in 2011. Bennett has Spring Ball to get to work into the rotation and be a player in September.

Yeah I don't think it necessarily is, it's just interesting timing of the information coming out. Wonder what position BK has in mind for Collinsworth in the future.

This is great news! This kid is a hell of an athlete, and will fit in great on the D.This also probably leaves a spot for DaVaris to come right in and start.
Losing Okotcha isn't great, but it's not huge at all.I really think this helps us land Niklas...and at the very worst it allows an extra one of our great 5years to come back.

Do you think Jackson still moves to CB if Okotcha is still committed to ND? Or does Coach Kelly know that Okotcha is not going to enroll at Notre Dame and Jackson was his back-up plan?

I think Jackson is a great add to the DB core, with or without Okotcha's commitment.

He adds height, blazing speed, and hitting power

I think kelly probably knows or has talked to him and he told kelly he was gone.

I like the move.

Current depth at WR and DB:

Wide Receiver (10)
Sr. Floyd
Sr. Goodman
Sr. Walker
Jr. Toma
Jr. Riddick (for now)
So. Jones
So. Smith
So. Collinsworth (for now)
Fr. Atkinson
Fr. Daniels

Defensive Back (12/13)
5th Smith
5th Gray
Sr. Blanton
Sr. McCarthy
Sr. Slaughter
Jr. Motta
So. Wood
So. Jackson
Fr. Hardy
Fr. Brown
Fr. Atkinson
Fr. Farley
Fr. Okotcha (maybe)

I still say Collinsworth should be moved to safety. Also by looking at the depth at WR, we may want to keep Riddick there and hope Wood, Gray, and Roberson are productive and stay injury free. Without him split wide, we would have to rely on the freshman to make plays outside. Jones and Toma would makeup the depth at the slot and Smith and Goodman would be the only other guys to be out there to help Floyd.

I agree on the timing. Back in the olden days (pre Kelly) these things didn't come out until Spring Ball. I don't recall 5th Years being acknowledged by a coach until quite some time after Signing Day.

I think that the move is more of getting Kelly's best athletes on the field then the Okotcha situation. Also, we are pretty loaded at WR. Maybe he felt that Jackson would be able to contribute more quickly at CB. Once people get a look at our offensive improvement from year 1 to year 2, ND will be very appealing to WR recruits. I'm interested to see what happens with Theo too.

I am excited to hear Kelly's presser on Wednesday. The impending snowstorm should give me a good reason to take a NSD holiday.

Badger should be back in 2012 as well.

Like this move. Always thought that he was a better fit on defense. His speed is awesome and he can tackle.

I strongly agree. After seeing his tackling ability on kick coverage, I thought he'd be a great fit on D.
