So, my question today is, what do you guys think of Kansas State? They're 10-2, but almost every one of their games have been close. They have two wins by double digits (Kansas and Kent State, both awful teams). They were crushed by OU, but just about beat Oklahoma State. I know they haven't recruited well, have they ever? How do they do it? They are in every game (aside from OU) that they play (and usually so is the other team). I guess, I don't know what to think of them. A win is a win, right? Are they as good as their record suggests? Better? Should they have been put in a BCS bowl?

Tell me, what do you think?

Just wanted to add that on my dynasty just a few moments ago I accepted the head coaching job at Kansas State. Irony or coincidence? Or destiny? :meditate:

Well I was insanely drunk, carried home, put to bed, and the next day found a shoe in my front yard, and my sweater in the kitchen, and my bra hanging from the ceiling fan....then I swore I'd never drink again in my life so I think it was a success. And I put all 29 candles on my cake and it didn't set off any alarms.

Beau sorry just back readying but i see you were accepted for a coaching position. Thats great bud. I hope coaching does for you what it did for me. I'm actually taking time off (personal time) but intend to get back into high school coaching again. I was a defensive coordinator at the high school level and defensive line coach at the semi-pro level.

Have you found out what position you will be taking up? What type of experience have you had in football before?

Thanks man! No I haven't found out yet what position I will be coaching. I will probably find that out after finals week (this week).

My experience in football includes:

  • Pseudo-assistant coach (My junior year of high school)
  • Assistant coach of a youth league team (Junior year again)
  • Played (Senior year)
  • Went to the ND coaching clinic (this past spring)
  • Went to a Ball State coaching clinic (this past fall)
  • Head coach of a youth league team (this past fall)

Impressive resume for your age and if i was you i'd stick to the clinics. Theres one thing i've learned over the years when you go to them you talk to as many other coaches as you can as long as your not playing against them they will share information and ideas. They want to get out of you as much as you want to get out of them. I was working with a defensive line coach at a D-1 school in Pa. Got clearance from the head coach to work with his group and we were joking and he said "as much as this is an experience is for you to be here we want to figure out all your tricks". That statement always stayed with me because i was working with a semi-pro team at the time and they were well known in the area so why not bring in a coach to work with and learn how he teaches his guys.

Also don't be scared to learn both sides of the ball. When it come to opportunities and coaching jobs its very important to know both sides of the ball especially in high school ball.
Some guys just wanna coach offense or defense but in order to achieve coordinator or head coach status you must be able to grasp the team as a whole.

Another tip if you have the cash don't be scared to get dvd crazy.... learn as many systems and schemes as possible that way you can run variations of every thing you learned and also be prepared to run against them.

Any other questions you can PM me. I tell people all the time coaching is a great thing when your body doesn't allow you to play anymore. You become these guys mentor, big brother, or even a father type to them. High school is really cool because you see boys become men and hopefully productive individuals in society.

I was always really tough on my guys some days i swear they were plotting to kill me. It wasn't that i was mean or wrong with how i went about it i just demanded the best out of everyone of them. I would not let them give up. So years go by and one of the kids was this little skinny dorky looking kid first year out for football. I was really tough on him because the other guys smelt fresh meat so i figured if i would ride him it would make him tough so the guys wouldn't even bother him. So 2 years of football goes by and he barely played at all for us mostly special teams and mop up duty and yes he was still tiny and skinny but he stuck it out and kept coming back he graduated and that was it. No hey coach or thanks coach he was gone. I kept thinking this kid will come back one day and probably shoot me right? 5 years goes by and i see him at a gas station on my way to work he got a couple inches taller looked like he hit the weights. I was thinking to myself i hope he doesn't take a swing at me looks pretty badass. He saw it was me and his smile was ear to ear came right over shook my hand gave me a big bear hug and said thanks for everything i did for him. Here he joined the army and became very successful in the service said he owed all to me because he wasn't scared to work hard for things even if they feel like it can't be achieved. To make a longer story shorter he is doing very well for himself.

I hope you have great life changing experiences in coaching just like i have.

Alright, so my laptop decided to eat a CD and crash so now I won't have a laptop for 10-14 business days (yes, that is actually how long it Dell tells you to give them and yes, it is ****ing ridiculous). I was wondering if anybody would care to text me any big updates not covered by the NDatRivals twitter.

Wooly i used to blank blank blank this girl way back and when she would blankity blank blank her face looked like she was a half chromosome short of being corky.... i actually tried to take a picture once....
