Is it safe to say Riddick has passed Gray? And I'm curious what we would do in a late game situation if Allen and Hughes were both injured, if we would go with Riddick, Gray, or probably Aldridge.

I'd like to see Riddick and Aldridge get some more carries.

Riddick appears to have passed Gray. Jonas doesnt help himself when he fumbles every time they give him a shot.

When Robert Hughes moves on, I fully expect Gray to take over in his place, even if it's just for his senior season. Great programs have 4 and 5 stars competing for carries their first 2 or so seasons, and then taking over as they mentally and physically mature in their JR and SR seasons.

It's comforting to know that even with Allen out, there isn't much of a drop off.

Our RB depth is definitely on display here.

i love Riddick. He's so hungry to get into the endzone right now.

When riddick has the ball, I cant take my eyes off the TV. He is exciting, and I feel like he always 'this close' to breaking one. I like gray alot too, except he seems to slip alot, and he likes to put the ball on the carpet. I think Riddick has edged him out, but I dont think Gray is out of the picture.

I like Gray's combination of size and speed, but I don't see him ever getting too many snaps at ND.

Next year AA and Hughes will be back and Riddick will be getting his opportunities and in 2011 I think Cierre Wood makes his presence known. With the way that Wood bulked up before this season he could be a monster by his RS sophomore season and the combination of him and Riddick splitting carries in the backfield could be awesome.

I like Gray alot but i have a feeling that when Hughes and Allen leave, Wood and Riddick will be the feature backs

backs

backs

One of the best bacfields in the country and coach Alford has been a lot of the reason. So impressed with all of them and there is no reason to think that Jonas Gray will not contribute in a big way before he's done. The other guys are already doing it. Just wait for the show these guys are going to put on the next few years. My one regret is James Aldridge didnt get off like I thought he would so maybe that will happen before he has to move on. You may see them run more the next couple of years if Jim Clausen leaves (I still think he stays). These running backs will be the strength of the offense.
