Khalid Kareen say anything about this hire at all? I'm sure he has a good POV to lend the players!

I don't know why, but the Golden hire reminds me of Heistand's hire the first time. Like HH, I think Golden exceeds expectations.

I'm guessing his login and password on duzno, so an intern in the recruiting office is going to have to set this up and admin it.

Good grief.

It's okay Hiestand never change his twitter account since he was hired at ND ... the first time. It said he was ND o-line coach his entire Bears tenure and his 2 years of retirement.

I just don't think we realize how great this is for MF long term. Yes, MF wants to have his hands on the defense, but having someone who can do it all and at every level of the defense allows MF to step away quicker and with more confidence.

No matter what week it is next year and beyond, MF can step completely out and focus without worrying about the defense. Want to focus on NIL discussions with JS? Need to recruit Peyton Bowden because Texas A&M is trending? Need to discuss facilities with Father Jenkins? Need to focus on ST or offense?

A million things come up in any given week - and now MF can step completely out of defense and have someone who's done it for decades. Huge W.

Need more time to check in on IE regularly so he knows what we want him to do.

People get in over their head all the time in every line of work. Especially 1st timers taking on immense responsibility, which MF is.

I think you missed the point - Not recommending "what he do", just saying it's good that we have someone who allows him to step away for X/Y/Z as they come up.

This guy had back to back winning seasons at Temple and it was his first head coaching job. No coach had back to back winning seasons at Temple prior to that since 1978-79.

Look at Temple's record after he left versus what that program was doing prior to him being employed there.

There is some substance to this guy when it comes to coaching.

This could very well be the staff.

I’m eager to see how all the pieces fall in place, and how we look on the field. I understand Golden will be running Freeman’s defense. But where I’m most concerned/curious is where or how we look on offense.

I hope at some point Freeman will be as dedicated to the offense and establish his own identity on that side of the ball.

I’m really glad we have an ex-HC on the staff to help with some decision making if needed. That too was a concern of mine with a first time HC.

Strip club. Answer is always strip club.
But there are no good* strip clubs in Cincy anymore since Deja Vu closed. You gotta head north towards Dayton or South towards Lexington for quality gentleman’s entertainment.

*I can absolutely vouch for having a good time at the Brass Ass, the Brass Bull and/or the Playpen just across the river in Newport, KY… but it’s more of a “can you believe what a shit show this is?!?” type of good, definitely not a “these dancers are hot” type of good.

I saw on twitter someone said they heard it was a 3 yr contract. I am assuming it is about 2 million a year?

"good" strip clubs are awful

give me dangerous and shady every time.

This hits close to home. I went to this real hole in the wall around Sandusky Ohio once like 20 years ago. They had like 50 creepy china dolls displayed behind the bar. The women weren't exactly top notch either, but they had no problems sharing clients. Saw a lot of double lap dances going on all over the place. Still felt like I might get shanked though.

Golden, Hiestand and McCullough have been around so I think that helps. Apart from that I think it looks good on paper. Now just crossing my fingers Rees stays put, which I think he will, but if an NFL team somehow offered him an OC job I think he'd have to take it.

Bottom line, and I hope some of our fans will come to learn this, is that these guys don't love ND as much as the fans do and they are going to do what is best for their careers first. That means leaving for other jobs. McCulllough has already stated that the path to being an HC goes through ND for him, not the NY Giants, so there is one right there. You know Rees is going to leave at some point. Stuckey and Parker are younger dudes who may want to be OC next.

For now, this group goes forward. In a year from now, will it be missing a name or two, my guess is yes. Don't panic. Keep Calm and Onward to Victory.

100%. Whenever people whine about losing coaches to other jobs just point them to Tuscaloosa. Nick replaces virtually his entire staff every few years. As long as coaches are leaving for promotions, it's a good thing. Freeman is going after rising stars, and they don't stop rising when they get a position coach job at ND. Just keep reloading the staff as needed. Pay and recruit competitively, and ND can hire studs every time there is an opening.

It's similar to recruiting elite players. People complain about commits taking visits, enjoying the process, because we aren't used to it. 3 and low 4 stars don't do it, they just shut it down. But the big time dudes do, because literally everyone wants them. And that's who ND is after now.
