A Big Difference Last Night

I think one take-away from last night's win is our conditioning advantage. Once again, we owned the fourth quarter, just as we did against OU last week. The differential was even more obvious during the overtime periods. We were flat out in better shape than Pitt. Just as an example: compare their tight end Holtz with either Eifert or Niklas.

Paul Longo is an unsung (relatively) hero of this team's season. We have been a stronger team than any of our opponents in the fourth quarter this year.

Everett continues to improve and we are going to surprise a lot of folks come bowl time. This ain't 2002 by a long shot!

Yep. We have been a remarkably good fourth quarter team all season, on both sides of the ball. I don't think that's an accident.

+1

It is refreshing to see our team's energy in the 4th qtr! The past several years we would have been gassed and probably would have lost this game as well as games against Stanford and BYU. This team never quits and fights till the end. Love the new energy! Hard work does pay off!

Great point. This is what I believe has been huge all year. Luongo is one of the team MVPs so far this year IMO. In regards to the TE's however, I believe Holtz is a true frosh, so not a fair comparison there to Eifert or Niklas.

depth is also showing itself too. not a whole lot of drop off at certain positions.

Keep in mind that ND dominated in ToP and yards even though it appeared different.

Pitt's D was on the field for a long time even before OT.

Compared to the Weis era, the team is better conditioned, faster, and stronger. We have quite a few guys built like NFL guys already.

Oh god, the Weis era teams were cupcakes and they were also mental midgets. We'd wear out physically and mentally in the 4th quarter.
