Committing 12/16. ND I believe should have a decent shot here but no CB or predictions on any sites.

Have we learned by now to not judge a guy who Mickens offers?
Not questioning the offer, just don't see that he would be top of the safety board based on film, and hoping that we can afford to be picky with our DB's based on all the talent we have accumulated. Generally would expect to see some more obvious tackling and physicality for an all-state high school safety type, there's not really evidence of that in the film.

OSU offered a month ago after seeing his junior tape. UGA and a bunch of other big names have offered him as well.

Notre Dame, Ohio State, Georgia, and A&M disagrees

Yes I see he has super impressive offer list and looks athletic, doesn’t mean he should be our top priority at safety to secure this early in the cycle, considering how talented our room is. Reminds me of his teammate RB Amir Brown in that respect, who also has nice offer list, including ND , but clearly isn’t our priority at RB. He also technically has Georgia and OSU offers, but doubt he would have committed to Nebraska if he was top of their RB boards

Not sure how the staff views him but looks like the preferred build of a Nickel in Freeman's defense? 5'11" 190?
'25 Devonta Smith 5'11 195
'24 Jordan Clark 5'10" 182
'23 Thomas Harper 5'10" 190
'22 Tariq Bracy 5'10 185

I guess I'd ask:

a) What leads you to believe that he's our "top priority" at safety?
b) What makes you think that ND, or any other school, views him as a safety?

His highlight package also shows him playing corner. Under Freeman/Mickens ND uses the Ohio State recruiting template. They recruit athletes and figure out positions later.

"Film" = 2 minutes 48 seconds of highlights.

There are 11 safety offers in the 2027 class. They have a verbal from one. I don't know what the planned take is, but Bryant and Terry together seems more than solid.

He is supposedly committing in 3 weeks, and earliest signing date for 2027 is more than a year from now. I’m only suggesting that there could be higher quality DB prospects to prioritize, akin to slow playing Amir Brown (despite offer), because we have a wealth of RB talent in this years class

Ill call coach and have him withdraw the offer.

Is there anyone on the board you had in mind in particular?

Just curious. My level of shits to give about recruiting is ND Offer and ND Commit. With Commit being priority one and Offer being second.

That's really about it.

I don’t even care/worry about defensive recruiting anymore. Freeman has this thing on a roll and we will get talented kids that fit the system. Recruiting rankings don’t mean shit right now this early in the process. The only positions that I care about are WR and QB.

…otherwise known as questioning the offer?

Apparently we have offers out to 11 other safeties; I’m guessing staff has a pecking order for who they value the most . Is it wrong to imagine this guy isn’t top of the board ? I don’t think his highlight film screams future NFL player, whereas a guy like Ayden Pouncy it’s hard not to see that in his future. I do question the actionability of an offer like Amir Brown. He technically has an offer, but if we were pushing for his commitment seems likely we would have had it.
