I think most ND fans expected this one to be far from a sure thing. SEC schools will be throwing lots of NIL bag at him until signing day. Hope he sticks but wouldn’t bet on it.

I was skeptical when he committed and I remain skeptical. Major Blake Barnett vibes + he’s from Mississippi and I’m sorry but but AL/LA/MS is even worse of a fit than the west coast in terms of “flake rate” or “bust rate” for ND.

This recruitment radiates the same energy as some of Brian Kelly’s swings in his first few cycles. At least ND has Minchey and Carr and can get a major portal QB if it goes sideways.

He's worth the risk, especially in a world where we are able to snag a Hartman / Riley seemingly at will. Having Carr in the previous class also helps.

This feels less critical since we have Minchey and Carr. It probably reduces the likelihood that one of them transfers. I know we are in a brave new world, but with all three, ND wouldn't actually have all three. Someone would hit the portal. I hope ND doesn't miss, but it can afford to be a little choosey with those two in the flock.

Will Minchey stay if Carr passes him in '24 (on the practice field)? I don't know, but magic 8ball says "it appears doubtful". Will Carr stay if he doesn't pass Minchey? Maybe for one year, but not for two is my guess. Throw Deuce in that mix, it feels like transfers would have to happen.

The QB room hasn't been this stocked in 20 years (I made that up...but it's been a long time). We are in a good spot with or without Deuce. Year three of Marcus, if we are in the playoffs, we will find QB's. If Mike Demrock is who we think his is, we will have QB's.
