Totally agree. I am sure he was told what he needed to do, and made a choice. It was his choice not to do whatever needed to be done, and with any choice there are good and bad consequences. He must have weighed the decision to take the foreign language class vs not being eligible to ND, and decided he wasn't as concerned with being at ND. That is totally his choice and I am sure he will be fine. I am not sure why people think we should wave the requirement so he can get in, only to not want to do the work his frosh year and transfer out. Probably best for all that the decision is made now and all parties can move on. Seems like this is the same thing Tae Johnson was told and he made a different choice.There is no reason to believe that admissions wasn't involved early on. The assumption (which has been stated several times already) was that Shanklin was a borderline admission possibility. He was told what he needed to do to gain admission. He apparently didn't accomplish the things that he needed to do.
