I wonder what HH saw, or perhaps, didn't see, to not offer him. I believe he was on campus a couple times, so there must have been something.

I’m not gonna knock Harry’s overall tenure but he absolutely mailed in 2024. Hopefully the replacement can lock down Lambert and maybe get back in with Moore

The same thing he didn't see in Jarrett Patterson? No one gets them all right. He missed Ikem Ekwonu early in the process when when ND was evaluating Osita too then Quinn whiffed when he took over.

Hopefully Bowden, Brown and the recruiting support staff were tenacious at their jobs and the new guy doesn't have to step in at the ground floor cuz you KNOW whoever gets the gig is gonna make a run at the #1 OT for the feather alone. Plus it's no secret that he was low hanging fruit at the beginning or his recruitment. It's gonna happen.

ND needs to build a wall on it's eastern front. Ohio St is gonna have two Hoosiers starting at OT when they come to South Bend this fall. They should have both been sitting the bench in South Bend until 2024... especially Zen Michalski

I get that no one gets it right all the time, especially at oline. But we're not talking about a diamond in the rough like JP was on one of the coasts here. This is a highly ranked kid in your own state that you've hosted a couple times.
There's clearly something that didn't appeal HH. Frame? Attitude/disposition? Grades? I have no insight here, which is why i asked the question to see if someone local did.

First off, JP wasn't a diamond in the rough, he was a 4* playing at a historically Top 25 HS program nationally and it doesn't matter where a kid is when they have unlimited game film on them.

As far as what HH didn't like about Moore? I have no idea.

I disagree. Landing Lambert by now, February, was completely out of his control. Kid doesn’t visit anywhere. Could still turn out very much like guys like Leonard Moore, Micah Bell or Traore, one visit and done.

Jones is committed. Early relative with CBs submitted on Prescod, who now has a Bama offer as of this week.

Guys like Prescod, Caleb Brewer needed to be evaluated after this season. That is not a HH thing.

Don’t see how he’s behind really relative to any other staff member. HH doesn’t like guys others do, that’s long been a thing, but it isn’t him mailing it in, he just doesn’t like them lol.

Wasn’t HH notorious to be the first position coach to be done with his evaluations?

And his offers rarely confirmed to rankings.

Like he came out of the gate and gave offers and was done. Since many targets were Top 250 kids instead of Top 100 kids he had an easier time of it.

I seem to recall Aaron Banks was a late offer and committed late in the '17 cycle.

Regardless, you have to think War Daddy Parker and Fox Hole Watt are certainly going to close this dude.

Loy says he now has a ND offer.
That's very good news.

With Harry leaving and the board being expanded I truly wonder how many OL the staff would like to have. The common answer seemed to be 3 when Harry was here. It appears ND has a realistic chance with Lambert, Brewer, Prescod, and Sprague. If they all wanted to come, would the staff take them all or even 3/4 in addition to Peter Jones, who is already committed? And who knows, maybe Moore would consider flipping.

Edited to reflect the confirmation of the offer per Loy's tweet

Good stewardship of schollies really should only mean 14-16 OL on scholarship at any given time. While I would always love to keep adding quality OL recruits, MF is going to have some tough decisions to make on who he will take...and I guess who will get processed out of the program.

If my math is correct, it looks like there will be 18 scholarship OL on the roster for 2023 at the present moment. To your point, I would expect 1 or 2 to transfer. Given the insanity of the transfer portal, I think you might as well just take as many quality players at each position as possible and then let things play out (transfer, medical hardships, etc.).

I know ND doesn’t have much money but if they put Watt on as OL then could we hire Harry as an analyst to help out.

I don’t think the new offers says anything about the next OL Coach as much as it does Hiestand.

It’s almost like Dre Brown or whoever just went down a list of highly rated guys HH didn’t like and was like, he’s gone, here’s your offer! If the new guy likes him, great, couple week head start. If the new guy doesn’t, it’s not like the offer really means much, he just won’t keep contact.

These ND Beat writers are as useless as a third tit with the Reese’s gone…
