Watched some of his overall highlights from the first two years. Bottom line is what worries me is the lost of his burst on defense with the combination of his ability to play with tremendous instincts and understanding of the linebackers position. His ability to avoid blocks and play his gap with speed is something that I just do not see from any of our other linebackers. Bowen has the instincts but not the speed. Madden is long and athletic but lacks the burst. Sneed and ausberry have the burst but lack the instincts. Hate to be negative Nancy but he is just such a joy to watch and one of the main reasons the defense has shown so much improvement the last two months
I think Ausberry has both the instincts and athleticism. Just lacking in size/strength compared to KVA.

I think it's going to be a match up position the rest of the way. I haven't seen much of Stanford but I envision they'll try to be physical with our LBs and that might not be a good matchup for the LBs that lack size unless Ash plans to incorporate some early down run pressure to get into the backfield to create negatives.

KVA is a star. So losing him means definitely means coming down to Earth a bit.

However, the position is deep and the guys behind him are very good, and very athletic, so its not going to create a big hole on the defense, or anything like that.

Ausberry is smaller, but this is not the NFL. He'll be more than fine.

The nice thing about blowing out teams like we have this year and last is that the backups get a lot of playing time. That experience will be critical down the stretch regadless of injuries.

I love Irish Sports Daily, especially hit & Hustle. I also like Power Hour. But sometimes Mike goes too far. This week was one of those times.

Mike explaining to "Irish fans" just how good KVA is and just how much the loss means to the defense is ridiculous. That is clearly the consensus view from every single Irish fan.

- Everyone thinks KVA s a star.
- Everyone thinks he is top 5 defender, most agree he is #2.
- Everyone agrees that he is a big play guy and a difference maker, the NFL guy that naturally does things that make you say "wow".

There is not a single fan who doesn't see KVA's injury as a very significant blow. The only question is how much it will show up if all the other LBs play to their potential.

C'mon.

Expected to be "full go sometime around week 1" per MF.
That wasn’t quite what he said.

“I expect him to be back sometime in the fall, right….every ACL is different…he will be back in the fall. We expect him for the start (pause)…somewhere around the start of the season to be full go.”

I.e. plenty of hedging in there.

We should be well covered at LB before KVA is ready. Have Bowen, Sneed, Ausberry and Faramino. Rarely play more than two at a time these days.
