I think if Freeman would've put Angeli in on the last possession we would've had a better chance to win. Angeli was on the sidelines warming up.

As much as I want to see Carr play- redshirt him and have him ready to compete for QB1 next season.

I agree- Minchey is an unknown, I would like to see what he can do, but not in yesterdays situation.
I honestly thought Leonard getting his hand hit at the end of the first half was going to be the excuse needed to start Angeli in the second.

When you play your senior season for your previous program and grad transfer to a program instead of being drafted then you get what you pay for. Develop and play the young men who chose Notre Dame as their preferred program. Ditch the strategy of transfers

How about 2 bad starts? Because that's where we're at. We won at A&M despite RL, not because of him.

You're not wrong, but 60% with no turnovers and a win gives you a slight pass (even with a 5 yard avg). If we lose to Purdue, we MAY see a change....But I'll bet every dollar to my name RL trots out there as the starter for Purdue. I think MF will be safe this year, but going forward...I think it's all about performance now...Not his coach talks or his cheerleading skills. Also, the days of me feeling like he may get plucked by another school with a ton of money are long gone. If he doesn't succeed here, he will be a coordinator again for at least 3 years.

Oh, I have no doubt that RL will be the starter next week. The time to make the change was at halftime this past Saturday. If Freeman saw what Leonard had to offer in the first half and still thought he was a better option than the three behind him on the depth chart, then nothing would have changed since then in Freeman's eyes.

Ya, benching RL to start the 2nd half is what needed to happen, even for a series or two. Those are the tough calls Freeman hasn't made yet. At this point, he should be coaching for his job. It will only take 1 or 2 big donors to say "I'm not tossing X dollars at this young QB from Cali as long as MF is here" The NIL is going to not only change the game, but also change how long schools back coaches.

I do agree Freeman's seat will slowly start to warm the more he digs his heels in on his current philosophies; however, I just don't see Notre Dame being a place where they allow the tail to wag the dog with regard to NIL.

I hope you're wrong, that would be the final blow to knock them into Northwestern territory. Forget the top tier kids, you'd start losing mid pack kids to Pitt. Tennessee gave Lamaleava what 8 million????? Looks like a damn good investment, ND is in such a tough spot....and the only thing that saves them is winning....and we couldn't have dropped the ball worse.

The New AD was a punter for Lou Holtz. I seriously doubt they intend on forking out millions of dollars for HS seniors any time soon. It just ain't happening.

To me this wreaks of promises were made that if you come here you’re the starter. Now freeman will stick with him even if he doesn’t throw a TD all season.

Yeah, ND's 1st half point total is a total red herring IMO - unsustainable against G4 schools with a pulse. Leonard won't be able to throw/run for 100 with 3 TDs on the ground in a half against most of the remaining competition. Angeli showed he had work within the pocket and scoot a little (enough) as well. If there wasn't already a QB controversy in the locker room before the game, there inadvertently is now...

minchey has the better arm between leonard and angeli and it's not even close and imo he's every bit the runner that leonard is. would love to see kenny get a lot more playing time.
He's definitely the best fit scheme-wise for Denbrook's offense.
I'm worried MD's reliance on a running quarterback chases Carr off the team.

He seems to have all the tools you'd want in a QB. Im not sure why MF felt the need to go get RL with the QB roster he had. In a perfect world, Minchey would start , Angeli #2 and Carr watches and learns. Theres lots to speculate on why this isnt the case.

Because Angeli has a devastating flaw in his game (gets hacked when the wind blows too hard) and they didn't think Minchey or Carr would be ready to start.

If ND didn't get Leonard in the portal for this season, I'd have to go with Angeli as the starter, and Minchey as #2. We've seen more of Angeli.

To me, it's pretty simple - Pyne PTSD. The year they SHOULD have gone to the portal and didn't, they paid dearly.

That's exactly it. After watching the debacle of our 2022 QB room, they (and a lot of us) talked themselves into the notion that you couldn't go into the season with a QB who'd never started, probably with a side of "Angeli was only a three-star so he's got a low ceiling" and "Minchey and Carr aren't ready" for desert.

But our overall QB room is a lot healthier than it was two years ago. Even if Hartman didn't live up to the hype, taking a grad transfer last year was definitely the right move. Taking a transfer this year, maybe not, especially if he can't actually play quarterback better than the guys we had in-house.
