It’s inevitable, we’re going to lose a good QB in the next year or so. Just gotta hope the staff chooses correctly on who to play/keep
Not sure if lberry is right or not but did something prove him wrong? But lberry said he was no good and has no fight to him
ND should get Rees in as a consultant on who to keep and then go the opposite direction. It’s inevitable, we’re going to lose a good QB in the next year or so. Just gotta hope the staff chooses correctly on who to play/keep
It's hard to see how both Angeli and Minchey stick. It feels like Minchey has the higher ceiling, so I hope he gets a shot. But, yeah, he could easily be elsewhere this time next year. One has to think Kenny has moments where he wonders if he made the right move not going to Pitt.
He would have played last season after the Phil meltdown, and would likely be the undisputed starter for at least the next two seasons.
Instead he will likely go into next season as the third string QB, with absolutely no guarantee come “25 the job is his.
Things can change fast, I just feel for the kid because he deserves his shot, and I’m just not sure if it will work out for him here as things currently stand.
If I had to guess Steve seems like he sticks it out, because of the family history with ND and how much the degree means to him and his family, then does a grad transfer year somewhere near where he grew up like a Rutgers or Maryland type power 5 program that needs a starter that off season.Hard to see how both Minchey and Angeli stick. I *think* Minchey has more upside, so I ho

1. Good problem to have, because it means that the guy who wins the job is even better and 2. I don't think Kenny leaves until or unless ND brings in another grad transfer starting QB for the 25 season...but that also kinda tells you all you need to know about how the staff views him (and to a much lesser degree CJ Carr). It’s inevitable, we’re going to lose a good QB in the next year or so. I think there’s absolutely zero chance Kenny can beat out leonard due to him having pretty much no college game experience. You don’t want someone that green starting season opener at A&M… if nd staff feels another qb is better than Leonard they probably still role with Leonard vs A&M and then start working other qb in after that game. I doubt that happens and I think it’s almost a lock Leonard starts every game he’s healthy in next year. I do think we’ll have a capable backup qb though similar to 2018I hope Minchey or Angeli end up legit beating out Leonard in the Spring and Fall. I think Leonard is fine, but I'd like to see one of the two succeed, and if they beat him out in a competition that means they end up being that much better. Not sayin' it'll happen, just wishful thinking.
Part of the key of needing a stud QB in every class not only to ensure you cover any evaluation misses is recruiting. Typically the QB is a natural leader with recruiting.Having four legitimate QB’s is a good problem to have but someone will probably leave in May that’s just the way it is these days.
Spring practice will be tricky. Not even what I’m hoping for.
That's the thing is nothing can prove he was right either it is an insane take to say that the kid is no good and doesn't have the fight in him because he didn't play much as a true freshman. It's just garbage hot take bullshitNot sure if lberry is right or not but did something prove him wrong?
There’s video of Buchner looking like the next Aaron Rodgers throwing vs air in sweats/shorts
KMinch is the one I especially don’t want to see transfer. What does he need to do more of to see the field and gain experience? By all accounts, it sounds like he has an explosive arm. What areas does he most need to improve on?
Personally I think Minchey has more upside than Angeli. Bigger arm, more athletic. Right now today Angeli has more experience and better command of the playbook, and that matters for opening day 2024. But if I were picking between the two* long-term I would hope that eventually Minchey overtakes Angeli.I'm curious why Minchey is the one, of all the QBs we have, that you don't want to transfer?
As much as Minchey's reviews from practice have been generally pretty damn positive, if we have to lose one, I would think I'd rather it be him.
Angelli has experience and is the leader with Riley injured, CJ? He's potentially program changing, and of course we don't want Riley going anywhere.
Not coming at you, just genuinely curious why you think Minchey is the one you'd keep put of all of em.
Has that been reported somewhere? I thought Denbrock is installing his own offense?Personally I think Minchey has more upside than Angeli. Bigger arm, more athletic. * I say two because Carr is a different story and the best-case scenario is that he wins the starting job outright for 25 onward. In which case as long as we have one competent backup I don’t particularly care who it is.
Good thing there really isn’t much to uninstallHas that been reported somewhere? I thought Denbrock is installing his own offense?
I see Minchey as having a better ability to run
Honest question--what are you basing these observations on? HS film, practice clips, other? He also has a calm composure about him
Carr and Minchey are one year apart so its an either/or proposition most likely for who the long-term future is between the two of themCarr is the long term future
These scenarios where Experienced QB X plays to start the year with Hot Shot QB Y slowly getting sprinkled in during the season until he eventually takes over or has major role have been successful maybe twice ever and those Hot Shot QB Y's names were Tim Tebow and Trevor LawrenceI think if Leonard ends up having health issues, we will (or should) see a lot of Minchey reps with Angeli as the likely starter to begin the season. He can’t be sidelined completely this season. I hope there are either packages drawn up for him or he has majority reps in garbage time.
Or a "coaches going with the more experienced guy in a tough road environment" issue, which is why it would've been good if Minchey could've gotten more minutes last season.Honest question--what are you basing these observations on? HS film, practice clips, other?

Carr maybe would be willing to sit behind Angelli for the 2025 season. That'd be considered patience in this day and age
Don't think theres any way Carr would be willing to sit around behind Minchey for a couple years if Minchey were named the starter for 2025

If Leonard gets hurt and the staff feels compelled to work in Minchey along with Angeli then it probably means both are struggling and the season is likely an abject failure at that point
Minchey will either be able to beat Angeli out right for the backup spot by end of fall camp or he's probably just not that good and needs to move on after the season
He'll have been in the program for more than a minute by the end of this upcoming fall camp, so it wouldn't be a lack of experience problem at that point. More of a "he's just not getting it mentally" or "he's just not that talented" issue
He didn’t look ready in the spring gameKenny Minchey was a four star, elite 11 quarterback. The kind of guy most programs would kill for, and a recruit NIU would never even try to get. What’s the point of even having him on the roster if we don’t give him a chance to compete?
One of the best QB’s ND has had since 2015 looked terrible in the spring game.He didn’t look ready in the spring game
So was Wimbush, Jurcovich, and Gunner Kiel.Kenny Minchey was a four star, elite 11 quarterback. The kind of guy most programs would kill for, and a recruit NIU would never even try to get. What’s the point of even having him on the roster if we don’t give him a chance to compete?

That’s the only way you know for sure.He at least deserves one half of game time to see if he’s got it
That’s the only way you know for sure.
Also, Angeli has looked infinitely more comfortable running the offense in limited game time action than Leonard has through two games.
Put Angeli in before Minchey.
