If you hadn’t already lost me way before this you really lost me at Shuler played soft.
You didn’t watch the Miami game that I was referencing? ND had to make it a key point to explain to their players to be aggressive when the ball is in the air because of shulers play.
Shuler had a great season the last 10 games.
Oh yeah? I guess Saban's Bama teams were just not that successful.
Saban and staff would create a list of players they deemed captain worthy for the team to vote on before spring practice even started. Not a free for all popularity contest. So there’s that. Freeman announcing captains less than 2 weeks before the season starts may have something to do with our constant slow starts to the season. No clear defined leaders all spring, summer and fall camp. The leadership comes out under him very well after adversity, needs to happen earlier to prevent it. Absolute joke how we’ve started seasons.

You think they're picking players that weren't popular? So, at the end of the day.....the captains ended up being selected by the players.

What the fuck are you even arguing? That player #7 who missed the cut on being selected as a captain would have been better than #6 so it's on Freeman to make sure that doesn't happen?? What?

Tell us, who should have been the captains. You have insight into the team dynamics better than anyone else, who would have "captain'd" the team better.

MAYBE the starts to the season could be 2025 - New DC, and 2024 - New OC with a new QB.

Old enough to remember when BK named Deshone Kizer a captain in December, and then five days later Kizer declared for the draft even though he wasn't ready just to get the fuck out of the team that had just gone 4-8.

WTF are you even talking about here? You think we would've beaten A&M if only, what, Freeman had named Jaylen Sneed a captain instead of Bowen, or Price instead of Pauling?

Come on man, if you can’t see there were clear leadership issues to start the season and this is a trend I don’t know what to tell you. I don’t have all the answers but I think it’s part who is the captains, how they’re determined, and when they are awarded it.

You Absolutely need some defined leadership for spring, summer and all of fall camp. It doesn’t have to be all the captains but it needs to be established. Awarded captains are different than just good players leading, it just is.

It shouldn’t be 99% player driven decision.

You shouldn’t have captains that openly to the media unsolicited talk smack about how violent the team is going to be then the team and especially that player personally come out soft and flat.

I’m chapped that Billy is leaving because it’s the exact situation where we could get our captain to return because they clearly are good and needed, will be paid well, and need to get better to improve their draft stock. Other than usc Billy wasn’t great this year and has room to improve. I’m
Chapped were still not playing. I’m all focused now on smoking beef tenderloin and prime rib New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day instead of watching ND kick ass.

2025 season results or lack there of when needed are why freeman needs to make some more changes to his processes, sign the extension, and let’s go.

Who cares about any of this garbage y'all are bullshitting about? Our o line has gone from potentially great to potentially mediocre in about 5 days.

Like what the fuck happened here? Is there a spot on the o line we're certain who the starter will even be?

Sucks to lose Billy, glad we have a lot of talented players in the room. Let's see what happens over an offseason. I also believe this was very short-sighted of him but I hope he becomes a star in the league.

Good luck to Billy, is he getting his degree?

The cupboard isn't bare on the o-line, we've always recruited the position well and ND can hit the portal if need be.

Spin this offseason as a positive. Let’s hear it.
This is far from a classic "ND offseason" and it doesn't require spin. Just because you wear positivity-blinders doesn't mean we have to follow your lead.

  • ND has managed to keep the majority of their coaching staff intact (we'll see if this holds)
  • They just signed their best recruiting class in the modern era, at least over the past two decades.
    • This class ranks between #2-#4 and covered every single position + which is a rarity
    • 24 of the 27 will EEs and will start to fill out the roster and give the staff a chance to identify potential contributors
  • Year 2.5-3 of Landow is continuing to compound and we're seeing the effects on the entire roster
  • After the playoff snub, we know Freeman has everyone in the program on high alert. He's going to be maniacal about execution.

We've lost a few players to the draft, we'll lose some more to the portal. Not a single starter has bolted (so far) for greener pastures. Freeman and his staff have a level of retention in the program that borders on the unmatched. We lose some backup/role players or we have players jump to the NFL after 4 years.

You can't win every battle so losing Schrauth is a bummer but go look at the roster and see how many talented players we have in that room. There is a reason Freeman is where he is. He doesn't whine, he doesn't hyperfocus on negativity or try to find reasons to fail. It's the same for everyone in life.

Entropy consumes everything over time, it's a universal law. A strong man maintains 'hope' in spite of this. It doesn't take courage or strength to point out how entropy is growing in any system. The smugness you and others display while taking your "victory lap" is repugnant. It's dark comedy that grows stale over time. Who takes credit for pointing out that disorder will ultimately prevail? Who takes every chance to find negativity and then brandish it like a weapon, hoping to shiv everyone else's joy?

Christian Gray records more PBU’s in 2026 than Putup had tackles in his career in the B10.
For ND?

It’s ok to be jealous of me, I’ve dealt with it most of my life. The solution for you is to stop pretending like you have a clue. When you have the desire to seem knowledgeable on the internet, take a deep breath, pause, and just move on or agree even if it pains you.

Does it matter what league? Still thinks he gets more than zero.

Oh yes, I am quite jealous of the guy who claims to have played on a B10 team. Totally believable. I imagine most former B10 players would be this committed to arguing the selection process of captains for ND.

Simply not a factual statement.

The editing is in the article below is rough, but...

”The first thing is, you have to educate them on what you believe leadership is,” explained Freeman. “I think that's the biggest mistake. We talk leadership, but what is leadership to them? There are certain ways I want our leaders to view leadership and that's the most important thing, to define what I view leadership as for them and then you put them in leadership situations.” hip situations.”

“We're going to have different teams this summer and the teams will vote on two leaders, or captains, whatever you want to call them,” Freeman said. “If you're a leader of a team, and somebody on your team makes a poor decision, well, I'm not going to the person who made a poor decision.on who made a poor decision.

Freeman will also be keeping close tabs on which players can help elevate their groups. bsp;

“You elevate the people you lead, and if the people you're leading aren't elevating, your performance isn't better, then I'm gonna look at you as the leader,” said Freeman. “That's the way we're going to continuously grow and promote leadership."ntinuously grow and promote leadership."
