I'd put my hat in the ring to say this is the kid Clark Lea goes hard for in the '22 class.

yeah I would think that Lea makes this kid a priority at Vandy, but nobody dreams of playing football at Vandy.

Offered by Stanford

"It's still one (of the offers) he's most proud of. I've put a lot of work into athletics and my academics. A Stanford offer is a huge compliment on both ends. (It's an) incredible opportunity."

Stanford hosted Langston for a virtual visit Wednesday and the junior said he "loved it".

"All the coaches were awesome and you could tell it is one of the most intelligent schools in the world. I liked the way I could see myself in the program."

Patterson has talked with Sanders "almost every week" for "about three months" about the Cardinal defense and how he'd fit into the program. Those conversations and the virtual visit have made Langston feel excited about visiting in person someday.

In addition to Stanford, Patterson said that Nebraska, Vanderbilt, Notre Dame and Tennessee (before the staff changes) are recruiting him the hardest. He also reports offers from Duke, Purdue, Colorado, Georgia Tech, Arkansas and others.

That would be huge for Clark. I'd be happy for them.

He would be Vanderbilt's first commit of their class.

Bit of a stretch? More like a huge stretch. He doesn't even register on the LB board at this time.

But, great pickup for Clark and congrats to Langston.

My one guess is ND wouldn’t even take his commitment if he tried.

So I remembered that when Patterson commited, Vandy only had his commitment (though I guess they picked up a couple more that day). Now in four months, they have picked up a bit of steam and are sitting at the currently #32 class in the nation with 15 commits.

I'm still wishing luck to Lea. I am not sure he has much of a chance at winning big at Vandy, but it would be nice if they could at least be a tough thorn in the side of those teams.

I'd love to see Lea have success. But, I hope his success never encroaches on the type of kid ND is trying to recruit down there, lol.

Finally putting some money into facilities but I don't think they will or should ever commit what it would take to compete at that level. I would happily take them going all in on basketball and continuing what they have going for baseball (again with better facilities).

When the superconference realign comes they need to get into the B1G with GT or go to the ACC and fill the UNC/UVa vacuum. They have no aspirational equals or rivals in the SEC and they own a coveted and growing market.

When the history is written five years from now, people will be comparing Lea's decisions (not leaving, but choice of destination) to Diaco's.

Vandy is the Afghanistan of football..

Nashville such a growing city though and the money is rolling in, they basically have just started to give AF about football. I don't see the comparison to UConn

Maybe, maybe not. Vandy is in a better conference and all it takes is a little money and the right coach. Franklin was doing okay in his short term there. Hell, I can remember when there was B1G talk annually about getting rid of Northwestern because they couldn't win more than 1 or 2 games a year.

Big difference in Diaco, an Iowa alum, choosing to coach at a G5 UCONN and Lea, a Vandy alum, choosing to go back home to a Power 5 team.

I lived in Nashville for several years, loved it, moved solely because of a merger/relocation.

Vibrant society, more open to transients, even Yankees, than other cities. Bustling, energetic, nice buffet of colleges.

BUT....I was there when there were way more Orange Tennessee flags on cars and SUVS than there were Vanderbilt flags. then the Titans arrived.

And The Titans flags dominated. Pro sports teams usually do. tiny, loyal Vandy cult, but tiny is key. Now in the hearts of the locals it is:

Titans
Preds
Vols
Dores

In the last 8 years the Dores are 14-47 in the conference. That's below .250.

Florida and Georgia remain in the SEC East.

2017 was epic. Vandy went down to Murfreesboro and whomped MTSU, returned home to wallop Alabama A&M and then beat a decent Kansas State team. .

The fans were eager, the Dores, at long last at 3-0, and finally "we get to play Alabama on even terms"

Well, not so much

It was 38-3, in First Downs.
It was 677-78 in total yardage
and 59-0 on the only board that counts, when Saban called off his dogs.

Warren Buffet said this

"When a good manager meets a bad busines, the bad business always wins."

Applies in football. Ask Jeff Brohm.

Lea has 15 recruits, some as HIGH as three stars.

Let's rediscuss in five years. That we we can see if Vandy is still fourth in Nashville behind Titans, Preds, Vols,
and whether they are south or north of that .250 winning percentage.

Were I Lea's brother or brother-in-law, i would have suggested he wait. Of course If I were that stupid we would not have Marcus Freeman as our Defensive coordinator.
