Good luck to the young man. Hate to see him go, but it’s the football world we live in now.

I keep meaning to follow the good ones like BM in the NFL but I just can’t except to look at box scores. So I’ve probably watch him for the last time.

It's a good time to follow Irish in the NFL, there are a lot of them. It seems like every team has at least one or two.

Leaving for the NFL after three years is kinda old school, actually. These guys are getting 6th, 7th, 8th years and playing into their late 20s.
I do wonder how some of these lawsuits on eligibility will affect HS recruiting..there was something about JUCO eligibility not affecting your years of eligibility...

One good thing about NIL - it gives us some hope that we can keep kids like this on campus one more year. Harder case to make for a first rounder but those mid rounders with ability to move higher and cash $1M+ checks have a business decision on their hands. That doesn't even get into real marketing money - does a no name NFL rookie get that much marketing action versus a top 10 player on a P5 team?

Second round first year contract starts at $2M for R2P1 while the last pick is getting $1.25M

Yeah it's gonna be kinda weird now because coaches are going to continue to be incentivized to take older kids and the kids are incentivized to delay using eligibility. I don't think it will impact ND or order blue bloods so much as it will the smaller programs

Benjamin Morrison

Benjamin Morrison
Notre Dame · CB · Junior

Morrison is a smooth, easy mover with ball skills. He had a history of strong production before suffering a season-ending injury in October. He excels in off coverage, with a fluid pedal and excellent awareness. He understands down-and-distance situations, settling and closing without wasting any movement. He can effortlessly flip his hips and run with vertical routes. In press coverage, he flashes the physicality to re-route, but he will lose his balance at times and get beat early in the down. He is a willing tackler, sticking his chest into ball-carriers to get them on the ground. He flashed timing and burst as a blitzer. Overall, Morrison has the tools to emerge as a quality starting cornerback provided he returns to full health.

Shocked BenMo is legit 6'0" 190+. He's basically the same size as Quinyon Mitchell, who was an pro caliber player as a rookie. Maybe its just because he always lined up on big WR1s that made him look tiny.

If the injury isnt a long-term concern, how is not a first round pick? Thought size concerns was the whole reason he fell recently.

Just saw a post combine mock that has him going in the 3rd round. If that is the case, he should have definitely come back for another year.

The only other ND player listed in the top 3 rounds was Watts.

I'll be interested to see how this changes over the next few weeks.

I listen to the Chris Simms podcast a bunch on my commute, but mostly his draft coverage. I think he's had some really good calls (Mahomes bandwagon before there was any wheels) and some bad ones (Matt Corral as #1 QB during the COVID season). But he's consistent and explains his rationale and how it evolves.

One of his biggest things is watching what the OTHER players do. I.e. When he watched Marvin Harrison Jr. highlights and saw that he was shut down by BMo, that stands out. He'll see that he's sticky in coverage but may have some work to do with tackling. All of the draft guys will dig into tape and see it. The other big point is that the combine is basically the beginning of the draft evaluation season. We're CFB fans so we have followed everything, but the NFL guys are only getting into it now after free agency.

He'll definitely rise since he's largely been forgotten about since his injury almost 5 months ago

Let the combine hype die down. A bunch of guys that can’t cover or turn their hips worth **** but can run straight lines fast

If he slips past CB4, a lot of teams made a mistake

Morrison will at least go round 2. There's too much good tape for him to fall. I can see GMs not wanting to risk their job on a guy coming off of hip surgery in the first because that can cost them their job, but he will go by 47.

The moment he got hurt with a hip I immediately thought he was round 3 at best.... TBH I wouldn't be shocked to see him round 4-5. I hate it but GM'S do not like taking health risks early in the draft and guaranteeing extra money to guys coming off injuries.

Maybe he'll check out well on pro Day but labrums are tough injuries to return from
