Carter Karels, the recruiting guy for the SBT, says in a free story today that McMillon and Morice Blackwell are our top targets at LB this cycle. Both are Rover candidates. Thinks we'll only take 1-2 this cycle. Really aren't even recruiting anyone at ILB it seems.

Struggling to understand lb recruiting...why 'pass' on Cody Simon last year? We took a big LB class the year before, I get that, but pass on the position two years in a row? Unless the strategy is just recruit all HS safeties who start at rover and move to buck after a couple years and Mike the year after that

Wasn't it two consecutive years of large ILB classes? 2018 & 2019 classes?

In consecutive years we had our Rover move to Buck. Both those guys also played some HS S. It’s just the natural progression that Elko/Lea seem to look for. I don’t think we are recruiting ILB only guys because Lea doesn’t see the need to have that many on the roster. It’s either that rational thought or Lea is planning to field a defense without a Mike/Buck because he doesn’t give a shit. You know, the more I think about, it’s probably the second one.

Blackwell is the closest thing to JOK I've seen. He's a starter at Rover his 2nd year on campus. Could he, like JOK, play Buck? Absolutely

Lea doesn't seem to give 2F's about Bama sized old school LB's.

Back to Blackwell, that ain't happening so please go after Ben Perry asap. He may not be as understanding as Coogan.
