'21 GA WR Jayden Thomas (Notre Dame Signee)

What do we think of him as a prospect? The offer list is jaw dropping but the film reminds me of Javon McKinley, in terms of a solidly built but not very fast WR.

The largest revenue generating sport is going to generate pretty much the same dollars whether he’s on the team or not. It comes down to fit and need for the BB coach.
You're completely missing my point. When the most important sport's HC comes a knocking, as the bb coach, you answer the fucking door.

]Post says no contact from baseball coaches. [/B]And it's not like he would count as a schollie for them, just football. So dumb and inexcusable.

Not missing it at all. I responded to the bold. I'm puzzled how you could say that without knowing what conversations may or may not have occured between the HC's. As a department head at my company, the last thing I want is for another department head to tell me how to run my department. I've had plenty of potential customers come to my attention. Since I'm not in sales, I forward it to the appropriate person, but I don't follow up and ask if they contacted this potential customer and mandate they talk to them.

But for arguments sake, let's say Kelly has told them about this kid. This would still be the BB coaches decision to look at this kid and see if he's a fit. They may not have a need for his position, they may have a full roster or they may have other kids that are higher on their list. I also doubt Jack wants animosity on his staff which is a possibility if FB is trying to tell the other sports who to recruit.

Got ya. But, historically I don’t think they are a big time baseball program. Historically I think they have similar success as Notre Dame in baseball.

True, until last year they've been pretty much one of the pack of northern teams that never win anything. But last year they soared under a new coach and we've all seen in football how recruits have a short term memory re these things.

Ironically ND really got off to a great start this spring under their first year coach until the virus scuttled things.

I’m working at University of Miami and can tell you with 100% certainty that if a coach in a major sport wants a kid to walk on to a different team then unless he’s an absolute jerk or completely sucks then he’d likely get a spot on the roster. It’s a vastly different thing if the program is asking for scholarship space then that’s a big no no but I’m pretty sure coaches can be a lot less picky about walk ons. I can’t imagine more athletic walk ons on the Notre Dame baseball program than Jayden Thomas. If he wants to get a shot at both then I’d say have at it. Also, many college coaches know each other in the same university so hopefully Brian Kelly has a relationship with Link Jarrett so he’s able to discuss it with him.

Notre Dame baseball was arguably better than Michigan this year until COVID. I think with the coaching change it's a bit of a wash.

Andrel Anthony committed to Michigan. That is gonna help Notre Dame here. I haven't watched Andrel's tape, but Jayden's offer list is much much better.

My main point was that we don’t know if there were any conversations between the coaches. The original post read to indicate the BB coach was aware and just ignored any conversation.

A Michigan fan on reddit college football had a wild conspiracy but seemed confident in it: Michigan could take one of Thomas and Andrel Anthony. Thomas was between us, Arkansas, and UM and Anthony was between UM and MSU. UM saw them both equally so they took Anthony because they didn't want MSU, who they'll have to play every year for the next four years, to get him. Thereby clearing the way for us / Arkansas to land Thomas. Awesome if true haha

Colzie might not even be a high priority for georgia

Anything I've read about Colzie and Georgia doesn't sound too promising about him committing there.

If Colzie was in ND's backyard I'd expect ND to make him a high priority.

I still think ND has a very good chance at getting Colzie to recommit.

He's not in their backyard and they're still making him a huge priority. It just may not matter.

I'm certain this sort of thing happens all the time.

See: the attempted flip of Jonah Monheim last cycle. Would've been a pleasant surprise for our O-line class, but would've been absolutely devastating to the Trojans. Pretty sure Kelly realized that even if he rode the bench, the latter would've been worth the scholarship.

I don't think it's all that wild, to be honest. But I think it's a little different than that. I think UM, like most, are getting the feeling that ND is leading for Thomas so they chose to go all in on Anthony so they didn't possibly miss out on both. The UM reddit board is just spinning it to make it sound more appealing to fellow fans like other UM boards have done.

I get that ND is making Colzie a huge priority. I am surprised that Georgia isn't and Colzie is in their backyard.

Thomas and Colzie to ND; bring those Georgia boys here!

I don't think there is really any cause for optimism regarding Colzie. Even if UGA and Bama pass, UF is still there. All 3 pass? I'd almost feel better about Tennessee's chances than ND.

Mike Singer, recruiting analyst at BGI, put in a FutureCast (rivals version of a CB) for Jayden Thomas to ND. We seem to be the clear leader here as we’ve talked about for a little bit here.

Not Colzie or Thornton level, but it would be a grood get. And assuming he's a good fit at Pace, he'd be a good fit at ND. Great prospect. I'd still love to secure a big/tall WR like Thornton or Colzie though. Thomas seems like a small X or big slot. Not very fast. IIRC, 40 time was in the 4.6s?

Not disagreeing with you here at all, but interestingly I was just reading an article dated a few days ago from a Georgia site that said they prefer Malcolm Johnson and Jayden Thomas over Colzie.
