Part of me thinks Prister is skeptic (even sort of a hater at times).
But, he seemed to most accurate of the beat leading into the season - albeit small sample with awful line/rb play at the time
I take a lot of what the II guys say with a grain of salt lol. They were also talking about the NIL situation and Bellamy vs Ben Morrison, saying how you can't predict that Morrison was gonna be a freshman All-American then of course hinted that they knew preseason that he would be. What an absolute lie lol.

Prister is weirdly on the outside looking in on the beat right now. He basically only does random film reviews (opinion), his Thursday thoughts (mostly opinion) and the podcast (mostly opinion) and those often overlap.
He’s closer to the same as O Malley than a true ear to the ground beat reporter for ND Football. I like O Malley because he’s not too coy and will drop random things like ND pursued Josh Downs. Loy basically covers the team and recruiting now.

Anyone else listened to II podcast yesterday?

Prister said that "ND is saying that TB is looking great - but I've heard otherwise"
He literally said he's not sure if he buys it....

We're back to week 1 Prister skepticism. What's old is new again.
I don't remember Prister saying that he heard otherwise, but he definitely said that he didn't buy it. In any case, we'll find out next Friday.

Sampson said "I have no insider - I've heard he's doing well just like ND has said directly..I know you have Prister"
Prister - "Well, I'm not going to go all out here but I've heard reason to doubt the accuracy of that"

*paraphrasing the convo

Sounded 100% just pure Prister skepticism to me.

Sampson even said it sounds like you have other insight and he said “well no no no, I’m just saying.”

It wasn’t a case of conflicting reports or even really any insider reports. It was Rees on the record versus Prister skeptical that it is true.

Story of Buchners career is going to be how many times we hear “coming back from not playing football for so long” over the next however many years he is here.
Yeah the dude is bitten by the injury bug. Seems to be the nature of how he plays. I just don’t ever see him leading us to a New Years 6 let alone the playoff

Injury bug is massively overplayed IMO
Ask any QB to run as much as Buchner along with bad Oline play and they are going to have an “injury bug”.

Look at all QB’s who got banged up this season. Pretty long list.

Maybe Buchner stinks. I’m of the opinion he hasn’t played enough behind a good o line for anyone to know for sure.

I'm excited to see how he looks Friday for sure! IMO, in an ideal world Buchner looks great, Hartman comes, and you sell TB on being the Taysom Hill role for 1 more year. And then he has the clear path to the starting job in 2024 (unless Minchey/Angeli/Carr beat him out for it which is also fine)

Buchner’s injuries have nothing to do with how he plays, the players around him, etc..

Some people are injury prone. Not just athletes, but all over.

Some people just don’t get hurt.

This isn’t witchcraft or opinion, this is science & medical fact.

Buchner has had three non-contact injuries that I know of in his prime healthy age while at ND. He had injuries in HS.

Remember Stepp? I told everyone that he was injury prone. Kid played one full season of football from 8th grade through college. He was hurt in middle school, three out of four years in HS, both years at USC, and his year at Nebraska. And it was six different injuries.

I really like Buchner I was hoping he would be the 5 Star QB ND needs.
But kid is always going to have injuries.

More like 'wondering' what plays Rees will be calling on Friday.

He pulled a hamstring as a freshman against Purdue while being tackled (missed 1 game), rolled his ankle walking down some stairs before the Spring game (would've played had it been a real game week), and then got his non throwing shoulder crushed under a Marshall defender and missed 10 games with a severe ac joint sprain. If all 3 of these injuries were related I would agree but I don't really see how they are. I guess you could say that Buchner has been unlucky thus far in his career.

The injury to the hamstring was running down the sideline & he injured it (you can see him pull up) before any contact.

He also rolled his ankle at VT, literally walking to the sideline. Go watch the replay. He throws the interception, most thought he rolled it landing when he jumped. But he lands fine. Hops in frustration. Then starts walking back to the sideline & rolls his ankle and falls down. Doesn’t return.

The stairs is embarrassing from what I’ve been told & that 99.9% of people wouldn’t have been injured. He has what is referred to as weak ankles.

That’s the three injured I’m talking about. I’m not talking about the shoulder because that was contact.

Go to the 19:25 mark of the video, you will see Buchner roll his own ankle, Hasslebeck literally saying, “untouched.”

Yes I forgot about that he rolled his ankle against Virginia Tech. Also played the rest of the season and was just fine. Feel like there's a pretty big distinction that can be made between a couple minor injuries and a season ending one.

The most likely outcome of this game is Tyler performs very well, scares off the one transfer QB who doesn’t care about NIL and then immediately gets hurt for at least a full calendar year by sneezing.

In football?

Everyone I know that ever played has been hurt.
I played my entire life, played in college, then competed in combat sports, and never missed one game or fight.
There is a big difference between hurt & injured.
Buchner has missed a lot of games because of injury.

But he is always missing time.
That’s the point.
Before the season started there was a thread on BGI about the chances Buchner makes it through the season without missing a game. I said 0 percent.
I will predict the same next season. There is zero percent Buchner makes it through the season without missing a game if he is the starter.
I will say it’s 50/50 he doesn’t have to sit out a play or more in the Bowl game.
Injury prone people are exactly that.
Everyone here knows what I’m talking about. It’s just a sucky situation that happens to certain people.

I broke a finger playing cricket once and also some sunburn, but apart from that I am the same. No injuries of note. Never missed a game

I know he had an ACL injury in 2018, I believe his season was cut short in 2019 as well with some sort of injury...then 2020 Covid..plus the injuries at ND...he can't catch a break.

Maybe explain yourself better next time and yeah that definitely sounds like an opinion based on your own life experience.

For the record some of the injuries that people I know suffered (all different people mind you) while playing include: broken clavicle, broken lower leg, broken upper leg, broken arm, broken ankle, separated shoulder, torn acl, torn mcl, broken knee cap, broken elbow, broken ribs, broken hand, broken wrist, never mind being seriously concussed/knocked out cold.
